it probably will need a bit of additional weatherstripping installed.

I'll do it later... I'm being told to do some work...post pics of yours that closely match hot runr guy's pics in post 11.

Thanks for the pictures "HRG"I wish they would have made the BakFlip MX4 about 1/2" longer, it's hard to get a good seal on both the front and tailgate. With my Elevate TS rails adding a little height, I added a strip of weatherstripping on the tailgate.

I have the factory hard trifold cover and automated car washes and heavy rains have yielded a slight water leak into the bed. nothing more than a 1 drip wide leak/stream from the corners by the cab, but only at the front most corners. the rest of the bed stays dry. I am surprised at how many people claim 0 leaks with the covers. specifically with the tailgate...as it has a..."big ol' gap" that isnt sealed (vertical gaps where tailgate meets tailights/fender that isnt sealed to the bed). So not getting any water in is surprising to me. I bought some thick seal tape and placed them on the fender/bed (by taillight when tailgate open) and on the inside edges of tailgate so that when closed it seals that gap up.Hey all,
My Mav is about 3 weeks new and I noticed a big water leak where the edge of the seal meets the tail gate. Is this normal? It's a Ford factory trifold install. I'm not talking about some dripping, I'm taking about a significant amount of water penetrating into the box.
Anyone else having this problem?
Suggestions?
Thanks
it's probably because the Gator SFX / Ford soft tri-fold is well designed. It has angled weatherstripping on it that channels water away from the bed, and it fits the bed opening better than the BakFlip MX4.I am surprised at how many people claim 0 leaks with the covers.
Ya its a big one at the corner. I'll call the dealer to adjust... But my factory hard trifold does get a small leak on really heavy rains just at the corners by the cab. My dealership did say you can adjust the brackets for the tonneau covers to help minimize the leaks. They also said that you should do actually adjust them bi yearly/yearly as vibrations/using the cover will allow them to move and not be as secure over time. So they should be adjusted.
But if you are getting a massive leak in, I would find out where it may be leaking from and see if you can adjust the cover more to minimize the leakage and/or get some kind of sealing tape/roll and try and place it around where it is leaking to deter water from getting in.
Freg what a pain in the butt. I guess it could be a lot worse... Hopefully they don't give me a hard time sikces it's 3- weeks old...I have the factory hard trifold cover and automated car washes and heavy rains have yielded a slight water leak into the bed. nothing more than a 1 drip wide leak/stream from the corners by the cab, but only at the front most corners. the rest of the bed stays dry. I would just get some adhesive weatherstripping and stick it to the bed in that end piece area. looks like under 3", maybe less than 2". you'll want to clean it with rubbing alcohol to prep for the adhesive strip. Here are the pics.

What a pain in the butt. That should be a dealership fix not an Amazon one...I would just get some adhesive weatherstripping and stick it to the bed in that end piece area. looks like under 3", maybe less than 2". you'll want to clean it with rubbing alcohol to prep for the adhesive strip.
I'd try either a wedge shaped or a d-shaped weatherstrip. you can find both of those (and more) on amazon, at a local hardware store, etc.
you can try the dealership, but if it's installed correctly it might still leak, then you'll need my suggestionWhat a pain in the butt. That should be a dealership fix not an Amazon one...
Lol I think you're probably rightyou can try the dealership, but if it's installed correctly it might still leak, then you'll need my suggestion![]()
