Number two if the cops were not so busy writing tickets to people like you they could have helped her out of an unsafe situation. They should be out solving crimes not pushing good deeds. But I guess the buddy’s that run wreckers would t make as much.
Go in proud and eat the ticket but say your piece. At least everyone in the court knows that cop is a d bag

Helping doesn't generate any revenue for either the department or the contracted tow companies.

I doubt if the car could be repaired at Buc-ee's, so the tow company got a job anyway and the stranded driver was safer.

If the tow strap was longer than 15 feet, inadequate size, or missing a white flag, it is in violation of the transportation code.

I wish more people would remember or stay consistent with that thought. Imagine if everyone just went on by when the cops needed a hand.
you can bet your ars that if that was a off duty or his mother they sure would be glad someone helped get her out of a dangerous situation. Seems they can’t figure that out. Much like when they pull over a driver going 15 over when everyone else is doing 10 over during rush hour. Only to cause a major backup that usually ends in a real accident.

So they should ignore speed limits because YOU need to get home first? I wish they would ENFORCE the speed limit in front of my home. It is a 35 mph residential area. The police did a traffic study and showed that 6600 cars a day uses the road at an average speed of 45. Now if we just speculate that 2200 drive 35, and 2200 drive 45, then 2200 are doing 55 on this road with driveways and cross streets coming out on it. Maybe police should also not arrest people shooting someone when others are actually killing people.

Not sure how you made that leap of logic. I never once said anything. About it being ok to speed and certainly never once said anything about so I could get home faster. Reread what I said.

I simply stated that sometimes they do make a mildly unsafe situation like one car going 5mph faster than others. In turn making a seemingly more unsafe condition by pulling. Them over to collect revenue. This causing a traffic jam. As someone who travels a lot I can say more often than not a traffic jam usually results into an accident. And many times said traffic jam is cause by a police trying a speeding or other ticket.

Much like this thread. Person did a nice gesture that made an unsafe situation. “Lady at a dead stop in center lane on a road.” More safe. Yes what he did could have caused an accident. But that’s a big what if. A seatbelt could in theory trap you into a burning car making it unsafe doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use one. That’s all I was saying.
Somehow you decided to twist that into me wanting to get home faster.

Agree, they get stuff wrong all the time. But I have in fact had a judge look at the cop and do the “really” thing.
I years ago was hauling a trailer with atvs. Saw the cops in front of me on the highway. He pulled me over and wrote me a ticket for doing exactly the posted speed limit which was 70mph.
He then said that it’s 55 because I don’t have a seat bar. I stated that I don’t need one cause the trailer doesn’t sway. Lite weight trailer behind a 1 ton truck.
I had weight distribution bars, brake everything but a sway bar.
Judge waved all fines and cost everything. Told the date trooper he was fishing and he never wants to see this again. I was 19 yo at the time and that was a good day.

I can see both sides but I'm curious rch75 about one thing. If you had a chance to do it all over again, knowing that you were going to get a ticket for doing so, would you have still towed her off the road?

So I'm still waiting for the rest of the story. What were you using to tow? How fast were you towing? Were you towing on the shoulder to the parking lot or in a traffic lane?
Seem to me a ticket for doing a good deed, unless you were causing a hazard of some type. Waiting for more info.

Hey, depending upon the year, if you have the 4k Tow package, you were within the towing limits of the truck. The Jeep GC range from 3650 to 4250 curb weight. - Just saying.

Unfortunately its easy to tell if you have 4k Tow, no 7-Pin equates to no 4k Tow. You also wouldn't have had a light connection going to the GC, so that might not help your cause.
