Just got an email from Ford for a free battery checkup!

I picked up my 2024 XLT Mav hybrid literally two weeks ago today.
A couple of minutes ago I get this email from Ford about scheduling a free battery checkup.

Are they trying to tell me something??? Lol!

With all the talk of battery issues, I already picked up a jump battery just in case.
I hopefully won't have any issues, but I prefer to be prepared!
Been keeping an eye on the battery voltage.

It's good on them to be proactive here. Your Mav has to be over 5 months old and assuming you're the first owner, that means it's been sitting a lot during that time. Unless the battery has been kept up to charge regularly, it could be at risk especially with all the problems they have already.

I just thought it was kinda funny, since if I didn't know about the battery sleep issue, I'd be wondering why Ford would want to check a battery of a new vehicle!

I'm tempted to run the battery down and force the sleep issue to get a replacement AGM battery.
The last update on the window sticker was from September 2024, so it would have been built somewhere near that time, so the battery is at least 7-8 months old.

It wasn't a battery sleep issue, but my last car was also a leftover and the original battery died after about 3 years and I'm sure it was because it sat more than it was used.

I have a 22 hybrid. No email. Hmm. I've had deep sleep notifications but every time I go to start it she starts right back up. I just love my little truck.

Took my 24 hybrid to dealer twice to check battery, they keep it overnight and report good battery health, 24 hours later the battery went into battery saver mode, I think I am going to give up and replace it with AGM battery

I am growing weary of the deep sleep issue on my '23 XLT. Yea, it starts, but I paid for interior lights and connectivity. Either the battery fails to charge properly or the battery charge system is inadequate. Parasite draw may also be contributing. I dunno.
I know my dealer lacks enthusiasm to be underpaid for warranty work, but my love affair with the truck is waning.
I don't see things improving from Ford. They have a much more serious problem to navigate with the onslaught of trade tariffs.
Good luck to us all if we need parts to keep out little trucks on the road.

That will be pretty easy. Just jump in. Start her up. Turn on radio. Shut her off & listen to some tunes until it auto shuts off.

Do that twice. You’ll get deep sleep within a day or two.

Funny you say this because some days when I take a lunch break, I'll just go out to the truck, turn the ignition on (not start it), put all windows down, have the radio on and then turn it off and wait until the radio turns off and click the key and repeat 3-4 times during lunch.
Then I'll put the windows up without starting and later I start it when I head home it starts with no problems

Depends on how much you drive too. I was doing just fine in my 24 Lariat. Went to the airport cell waiting lot and did two cycles of listening to radio. Two days later I had my first deep sleep. And now they are running 2-3 times a month. I've mostly put her on a NOCO charger for 24-48 hours. But eventually it goes to sleep again.

I drive 70 miles round trip during the week and at least one day on the weekends. I’ve had it two weeks and already have 916 miles on it!!

That may be enough to avoid any sleep issues. I’m 2 weeks from my 1 year anniversary & I just hit 5,000 miles. And this is my only vehicle.

You won't get an AGM under warranty. So don't do it.

Hopefully they started you off on the right foot though by fully charging the battery, even if they didn't maintain it the entire wait time.
Considering how many prep's fail to set correct tire pressure, or other items besides cleaning and shining the tires - I'd be doubtful.

Battery has a sticker on it for when it was made.
Door jamb has the date of general mfg on sticker too.

Was that email from the Dealer, or Ford - there is a difference on many levels?

After winter is a normal good time to check the battery - so either could be sending that out to all customers.
Or Ford is seeing in their stats from truck, a battery level starting lower than expected for what it knows is a recently sold truck.

If you don't have a maintainer, and their free check includes charging it up - do it.
Then follow the instructions in the manual for when a battery is charged up, that night.

Ya - those poor little batteries.

Mine commonly hangs out at a measured 11.8 to 12.1 V currently, system is in total battery saver engaged (but no deep sleep somehow). Or as tested, 11% SOC.
But the 45 Ah or 490 CCA, tests out at 100% SOH.

Of course the former will slowly change the latter.

You probably have a cell going bad, can't hold the voltage without load and drops enough. But tests fine for now.
Very annoying.
