So I'm back in the market looking to get into a 2025 Maverick AWD Hybrid after giving up on the truck due to availability during Covid. I've been keeping an eye on the threads here and often times see issues being reported to I wanted to see what (if anything) has changed with these issues for the 25MY Mavericks. Here's a list of issues I've seen and please feel free to point out other things as well. I'm hoping these issues are in good shape for MY 25 Mavericks.

What about the 12V battery issues? I thought I read where a fix for some reprogramming was on the horizon? Has this issue been addressed?

What about the Axels failing? Is this fixed?

I just recently learned about the hole that maybe should be fixed but there seems to be an aftermarket fix for that:

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...body-cavity-shield-covers-just-arrived.59568/

Now I see some are mentioning a whining noise on the 25 Hybrids when the Ice engine comes on? I haven't driven a 25 hybrid yet so I'll have to look into this:

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...id-wine-when-ice-comes-on.66441/#post-1102019

I love the idea of a Maverick and am serious about buying one I just want to see what folks have to say about the potential issues I highlight here and about anything else that might be relevant?

From what I'm aware, there hasn't been any reprogramming or patches if there was a software issue. They said something would be released by Q1 2025, but I haven't heard of anything being released. I'm sure people will go wild on this forum if it ever happens. That being said, they are using a better battery in late 24s and current 25s which should help alleviate issues.

What about the Axels failing? Is this fixed?
Allegedly they've redesigned the CV joint, but the 25s haven't been out enough for us to really know. Typically these were giving out between 30 - 50 thousand miles, which most people are not reaching this soon.

There are threads on how to DIY this, or you can get the Mabett package. Not really a huge issue to overcome, though.

This is just part of a driving a Hybrid that it makes electric noises. I haven't ever had any issue with the engine sound, and I find it a pretty quiet ride. Just go test-drive one and see for yourself.

MY25 hybrid Mavericks have an AGM battery, which should fix these issues. In previous years, that was 'the fix' for the battery issue.

MY25 Mavericks have a different part no. for the CV Axles. Whether that means they are beefed up or what, I do not know. I theorize that it was attempted to be fixed, though, for MY25.

Non-issue.

As far as I can tell this is just normal noise for the MY25 hybrid Maverick. I get all sorts of little whines and noises while driving. 🤷 It kinda makes the truck feel futuristic lol

So non issue regarding the fix for the wheel well hole or just leaving it be? I'm curious how many folks are patching that actual area compared to just leaving it be?

I have 2100 miles on my 25 hybrid lariat. No issues. Lots of enjoyment. Lots of threads here of other people’s experiences.

I drove a 2022 first edition FWD Hybrid Lariat until I replaced it with the AWD Hybrid earlier this year. I loved the 1st edition and passed it on to my daughter BUT the 2025 AWD Hybrid is a significant upgrade that seems to have eliminated the issues you have listed and a few other things that bothered me over the years. I got really tired of recall notices.
It was not a cheap upgrade to buy the 2025 but I’m glad I did it and plan to drive this car for 20 years so time will tell.
Given that you have waited this long to pull the trigger you might want to wait a year and see if any issues come up for the AWD Hybrid but it has been used on other vehicles So I think the risk is low.

No issues with my 25 Lariat Hybrid. Lots of repetitive posts whining about the whining. Enjoy it.

So you don't have an issue with the whining noise on your 25? It sounds like it's present on the 25's but most seem to indicate it's not bad. I'm trying to find a 25 hybrid to test out but it's slim pickens here unfortunately.

It is my understanding that the axles have been upgraded in the 2025 Maverick.

Any time there is a design change or update there are always new things that come up. So if you want to avoid the unknown then it might pay to wait for a 26. The body cavity thing is a design thing that you will have to decide if you want to buy the aftermarket part to cover it. Probably too early to know if the electric motor sound in the 25 is a problem or not. Battery and CV axles seems like that may have been addressed. They beefed up the transmission. No way to know if there will be any fallout from that change or not yet.

Change to AGM battery alone may not fix it as there was an underlying software issue, but there were 1 or 2 TSB/SSM to address the problem with software updates. I brought my MY23 hybrid in a couple of months ago. No power saving mode issues since but we will see. Overall the AGM battery should be a lot better though.

Everything you have mentioned has been fixed with the 25. As far as the whining sound it's not a loud whining sound and if you have the windows open or listening to music you don't hear it at all. It doesn't happen all the time. It's not an issue. it's just sounds hybrids make.
