There are a lot of trucks out there—but something made each of us settle on the Maverick.

The price? The size? The modding potential?
I’m curious—what was your deciding factor?

Was looking for something I could tow behind a motorhome. The fact that it was a hybrid pickup is what sold me..

My decision was based on several things after doing my due diligence

Ability to flat tow the 2025 Maverick Lariat AWD Hybrid behind my Motorhome

MPG

Price

trim levels available

after market suppliers focused on providing modifications to make each truck unique to the owners

Looking to replace older Ranger and economical run around (but fun to drive) car. Three things: hybrid (MPG) - truck - price.
That the Maverick is also fun to drive is a bonus.

2025 Ford Maverick XLT - hybrid, awd, 4k tow, keyless and push button start; was a nice upgrade from the 2022 Ford Maverick XL - but that price delta was huge.

🤓 🤣 I was originally 👀 at a new Ranger and then I saw this outside the showroom. That was Nov. 2021, the newest kid on the block. I needed something right away, ( you could say I was a desperate for a vehicle) since my 2017 Escape had been totaled, when and old lady pulled out in front of me. It’s pretty much a plain Jane, but I went for it and got it. 2021 XL, I’m loving her and get a ton of compliments on her.

Nothing, I repeat there is nothing out there better. Also that equates to the best bang for the buck.

Below is a list of factors that influenced my decision.
Performance 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds
250hp and 277 ft lbs torque
MPG fuel economy without sacrificing performance
Ride
Handling
Traction
4k tow with 7 pin, brake controller and hitch from the manufacturer not from aftermarket. Or worse sacrificing ground clearance on different models adding a hitch.
GROUND CLEARANCE
Bed size 33.3 cubic feet
Flex bed system and tie downs
Height of bed rails to accommodate 5 gallon fuel tanks with a tonneau cover.
Height of bed to ease loading or unloading the bed and still allow being able to reach over bed rail to load or unload without sacrificing ground clearance.
Interior room
Interior comfort
Easy to park
Able to ingress and egress easily because of height not being body on frame.

Note because of not having a 2 speed transfer case the max torque at only 3000 rpm also helped with my decision. Offsetting some of the loss of not having a 2 speed transfer case. It doesn't replace its advantage but reduces the drastic difference.

Also warranty and service was considered. Biggest is how close or far to a dealership and if I moved or traveling how easy or hard to get it to a manufacturer dealership which honors the warranty.
I have 3 Ford dealerships a half hour away in 3 different directions. This also was a contributing factor.

The main was like I posted NOTHING.

I'm in my mid-60s but have never owned anything but a sedan, coupe, or motorcycle. In fact, nobody in my family has ever owned a pickup - until now, anyway. I've always recognized the utility of a pickup but wasn't enamored with their ride, size, etc. I've also always believed that supporting foreign companies is long-term national economic suicide (and yes, I know the world is full of people who are convinced otherwise), so no Nissans, Toyotas, Hyundais, etc. for me (the Subaru is my wife's car, the first foreign one to ever enter our garage).

I loved everything about the Maverick even before it hit the market, when it was featured in an article in one of the car magazines - Road and Track, perhaps? Until the 2025s became available, I just wasn't willing to choose between AWD and the hybrid engine. Now I have both 👍 and am really loving it :inlove:.

My previous car (Fiesta) had 85k miles and would start needing maintenance, struts, maybe wheel bearings, etc. and it had the DCT trans and was on the verge of starting to lose more value as a trade-in.

Chose Maverick for multiple reasons.
Had the hybrid and getting better gas mileage than the Fiesta.
Decent price on a leftover '24 with some nice options
Added functionality to haul stuff.

Last but not least, a friend who has passed away, had a '70 Maverick that he drag raced.

Price and packaging were the main factors. I have always owned Fords, and always RWD V8 Fords at that. But I'm not a truck guy at all.

The only RWD V8 car that Ford makes now is the Mustang, which is way too pricey for me now, and also impractical. I've owned three Mustangs (still have two, but neither one runs).

I've been driving a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. With a hard tonneau cover, my Maverick is essentially like a car with a big trunk, so in that regard it's a reasonable replacement. AWD (even if it's mostly FWD) is my consolation for not getting RWD. And with the EcoBoost, the power is more than adequate.

Bought my wife a Bronco Sport that I had wanted for along time. She really liked it but I didn’t get to drive much. Started looking around at other vehicles and the Maverick peaked my interest. When I took the Bronco in for an oil change at the dealer, I saw this Maverick in their lot and was window shopping when the Manager came out and offered a test drive. Loved it but didn’t think we could buy another new one that soon again. Kept telling my wife it was really nice and she said go ahead. Was close to turning 73 and thinking might was we’ll live while we can!

What initially caught my attention was the price. I was amazed at what I could get for around $30k. Nobody could compete with the Maverick in the "bang for your buck" category. It was considerably smaller than my Ram and got twice the mpg. Sold!

Well,
It all started when we were pregnant with our 4th child. We needed a vehicle to fit all of the children. We settled on an Expedition Max. Now, I had an F-150 that we used for towing our toys, non of which exceed the capacity of the Expedition.

One day I was driving to work (50km one way) and realized I was using my F-150 as a commuter vehicle. This didn’t make sense to continue to do this as I did not need a half-ton any more. I started doing some research and found that the 2025 hybrid was all-wheel drive (a necessity in Canada), so I went in to my dealership and put a deposit on one they had ordered. Already saving a ton in fuel and insurance. 2000km in and loving it.
