An under hood light? Like for the engine bay? I’ve owned tons of vehicles across all price ranges I’ve never seen that. Even gloebox light is pretty rare and not on 80k vehicles.
My last new vehicle was a 2001 model. It was a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor--no luxury at all. It had an underhood light. My 1995 Mustang GTS had an underhood light. My 1991 Mustang LX 5.0 had an underhood light. All of these also had glovebox lights. These are functional items, not luxury amenities.

Ford cheap.
No lights in the glove box or under the hood, no non-dimming rear view mirror, Connected Touch Radio instead of sync......
I don't care about auto-dimming or infotainment.

how the brakes grab at low speeds ugh
Yeah, all the other stuff on here is really petty, but I have def noticed the brakes grabbing at slow speed. I was hoping it would get better as the brake pads wear in.

See I don't care about a glove box light the overhead cabin light adequately lights up the glove box when it's open and I don't go under the hood that much at night.
But I do drive at night Auto dimming rear view mirror even as an option would have been nice. The cheap ass Connected Touch Radio also operated the backup camera. Which ended up costing Ford a couple hundred million dollars for being cheap.

I'm at ~30,000 miles now and it hasn't changed. Still grabby

Is the *bleeping* gas "gauge" on the 2025. Whoever thought it was a good idea to have a 9 segment ugly "gauge" taking up all that vertical space needs to be taken out back and taught a lesson. In my 50 years of driving I've never seen a more stupid "gauge" in my life. Same pretty much goes for the temperature gauge but I don't look at that one as much.

This even beats out the off-centered rear license plate (which 3 people have already commented to me on).

What's your biggest complaint?
Yes, the rear "off center" plate is a bit off putting but I can see why it is there. I'll get used to it.

I forgot to mention that the exhaust noise is louder on the 2025 Maverick compared to the 2022 model.
That's due to the changeover from the canister-type to the mesh-type exhaust resonator in the 2023-24 time frame.

I suppose that might be true. It wasn't programmed correctly, but I don't know if that can be associated with being cheap.

Might be a silly question but wouldn't ratchet straps work instead? I haven't hauled anything 5 feet long yet but it looks like the bed extender when flipped in decreases bed space.
Sure they can and will, but the extender is as simple as flip it out of the bed and your good to go. It also acts as a bed divider when inside the bed, and is easy to pop out whenever you want.

Wonder why Ford didn't use sync 3 in the XL and the XLT?

My post was about my least favorite thing about my Maverick. I would not presume to speak for others.
I've been flipping up rearview mirrors when necessary since 1981. It's practically an involuntary reflex now.

The engine sounds like a sewing machine.one of my other vehicle's is a hemi ram with aftermarket exhaust.
my 2c, engine noise does not correlate (feeling-wise) to performance. It doesn't hava character, it does "roar", it sounds like sewing machine...

Count me as one who doesn't care. CTR does everything I need it to, and I have no issues with it running with my Android 15 phone other than an occasional need to reboot, and I suspect that won't happen as frequently once I get the camera recall done.

13 years ago when I bought a new Focus, there were two levels of infotainment available:
  • Sync (yes, the first iteration of it from Microsoft). Voice-operated-only Bluetooth, no touchscreen.
  • My Ford Touch, which had a touchscreen and navigation.
I bought Sync, and it is still serving me well. I would have bought the same system again if it had been available on the Maverick. It would have been EVEN CHEAPER, and still served my needs.

interesting to hear about that with the EB. it happens on mine and i just assumed it was the regenerative braking in the hybrid being overly aggressive. family member even commented about it when they tried driving it. my driveway has a slight downward slope at one section and you can feel it as soon as you get to that point.
