Hello to all on the form,

Picked up my new Maverick last week. Loving most of it so far, but a few things I am unsure about. Most of this relates to the texting situation. I have tried time and time again to un-sync my phone, shut things off, and get the device to connect for texting. I have been able to get calling to work fine, I can't get it to text though. Whenever I use the voice command, I get "sync is unable to message through your device, check device settings".

For reference, I use an android device and I tried wired and wireless connection. I could only get it to work through android auto, using the google assistant, which requires an internet connect I don't always have. Would love to know if anyone has a fix.

To make matters worse, my driver's side window makes a buzzing sound now. Pretty sure I got a defective motor, as it's only been 2 weeks. Getting that solved next week.

I'm able to use it via Bluetooth, but in my opinion it's not the safest since doing so means taking your eyes off the road and playing with the radios touch screen.

I'm much prefer the option I use 100% of the time by saying hey Google followed by send text to and what the text is. No playing with the display or taking your eyes off the road.

Using the "hey google" requires cellular data. I don't have that lol. How do you use it via bluetooth, what are the steps?

You have to have your Google Assistant or Gemini if you have a newer Samsung like me, set to listening at all times for Hey Google and you follow up by saying Text then your Contact (whether Johns Cell or Lisa's Cell) in your phone followed by what you want to text.

All done without touching anything. Where I commute I always have a cellular connection with my phone connected to Bluetooth to the Maverick.

You'll need one of those for it to work. Or a cell phone provider with better coverage.

We don't pay for cellular signal. Too expensive to have unlimited mobile data every month! So it won't work without?

So you're saying you have a smartphone without cellular service? I'm trying to follow but you're confusing the hell out of me.

It only works with either your cellular data plan or wifi. If you don't have either there's zero chance you are texting or calling at all.

Without cell/wifi how are you sending text messages?

I suppose I have a cell signal, but not unlimited mobile data.
Ah, that makes sense. No data for the speech to text. I misunderstood as no cell connection of any kind.

I have never tried it with data turned off. I will have to mess around with it.

Would love to know! Give it a try. I buy a cheap truck and they expect me to drop 80$ a month on a phone bill too.
