With the window for a 22 Maverick Hybrid closed, has the value of your Maverick order increased? Here in the Seattle area Eco Boosts are going for 5000 over MSRP. What would your Hybrid go for?

Yes, so if you have a hybrid please do not walk from your order! Now that they are sold out dealer will probably mark up $10-15k. Changing your mind is OK, don't let them know your thoughts. I doubt you would give a stranger the keys to your bitcoin for free. Don't give the dealer back these keys either. Even if you never left a down payment, the order is in your name so you are in control. Just don't give up that control for free.

Some alternatives:
1) You could buy or finance the Mav in your name then sell to someone else. Not ideal because this creates a double sales tax and registration situation.
2) Assign your right to buy the truck new to someone else (sort of like selling options on stocks).
3) Tell your dealer you will let them sell the Mav off their lot as long as they split their profit with you. Just make sure whatever they agree to is in writing, including seeing the final sales contract (with private info blacked out) to keep them honest ...unless you trust car dealers of course.

What do you buy if you sell your hybrid? The still available eco that has a much shorter wait of course. My dealer told me he has 80+ hybrid orders and only 5-6 ecos. Now that the hybrid is sold out, I realize the eco is actually a better choice if it is mostly for road trips. Hwy mpg is not much different even with 250 horses, more fun to drive in sport mode, better passing, more towing with 4k, and best of all - not forced to chain up (and safer) with awd in the snow.

I wonder if in reality a dealer can laugh at you and tell you to kindly leave if you’re not buying the truck you ordered and trying to choose your “heir” to the reservation, unless they are cool and are sticking to msrp for dealer stock anyway then it wouldn’t matter.

Never gave it any thought till this post, with the mark up we have been seeing on the eco boost, and since no more ordering of hybrids till the summer I am sure there is going to be some wild profit margins on the hybrid since it seems thats where the bulk of sales are headed between the two

Since a hybrid is usually the upgraded option most cars coupled with the demand for the hybrid greater than the ecoboost with less supply. I think it will easier for more people to rationalize paying over MSRP for those few and far between hybrids that customers don’t take delivery of.

I have a rule, things I own are always for sale if the right price comes along. At $5000 more then my out the door cost it would be hard for me not to sell.

So you are saying that you don't need the Maverick you are purchasing?

If you do actually need it then by selling it you will then have to buy something else and the market today is not kind to buying anything new with ADM's of $5000, $8000, $10,000 or more.

I look at it that if the Hybrid Maverick is worth $5000 over then I was lucky enough to purchase it at a discount of $5000. :)

I constantly get offers to buy my home. The problem is then having to buy another home which in today's market is at major inflated prices. I often say the I couldn't afford to buy my own home at its current valuation.

Not everyone is adding adm. I will not be picking up my hybrid, I purchased another vehicle at MSRP.

Where is this Mystical Unicorn Dealer that sells new vehicles off the lot at MSRP with no exorbitant dealer fees or add-ons?

I will not be picking up my hybrid
So you are not making the $5000 off selling your new Maverick Hybrid but letting the receiving dealer make the additional profit.

I have no intentions of selling my Mav or my Bronco - but I'll listen to offers. Someone on Bronco 6G got their VIN# and entered it in to CarMax and they were going to give him $7K over sticker! Have to take paid tax into consideration but thats still a nice profit.

My Mav is 23,575 so tax will put me at 25,350 plus some other fees I expect to be around 26,000.

Like others have stated - for the Mav - this is going to be my daily driver and something that I just feel fortunate enough to have secured at the above price. It would probably have to take an offer north of $30k for me to even consider it.

For the Bronco? That's just a fun vehicle and would probably ultimately be my (5 year old) son's car when he is older. If CarMax is going to give me $7k to sign for it and drive it over to their lot? That's going to be very very tempting.
