Hello all , my first post and very happy to be here . I have been skulking around a bit and reading
a lot of posts , I have a 3/31 build date for my 2025 Lariat AWD hybrid , space white , BAP , tow pack , sun roof , slider , console vault and some other goodies . After lots of reading I'm beginning to wonder if I should have gone with the ecoboost and the 8 spd .

After lots of reading it seems the abundant mileage I was hoping to get is going to be a pipe dream , I
like the thought of trying something new "hybrid technology" but I'm leaving power on the table vs ecoboost
and I may only achieve 5-6 more miles per gallon with hybrid .

Currently I'm commuting to work 110 MI round trip in a 2023 F450 Lariat diesel dually (keeping) so no matter which maverick I get it will be a mileage improvement over the 17 I'm getting now . Can any
25' hybrid owners give me some feedback or advice whether I should keep this hybrid coming or maybe
opt for the ecoboost , I'm trying not to make the wrong decision . It seems from reading some of you really like your hybrid's and some do not any input much appreciated !

Well I don’t know how much my experience will help. But here it is. I have only had mine 3 weeks. I only commute 14 miles to work and then I drive my truck for work, all in one town so a lot of short 2-6 mile trips multiple times a day visiting sites. The first 2 weeks disappointing mpg averaged 28 mpg the first real tank of gas I tracked but it was sub 0 here in Missouri most of one of those weeks and very cold the other. Fast forward to this week and this tank of gas with temps in the 50’s and 60’s and I’m like this truck is Amazing! And the mpg has blown me away 38-48 mpg on my 14 mile commute and anywhere from 38-68 mpg on my short trips in town. This tank is averaging according to the computer 40 mpg. I have not felt under powered any time I have driven it and in sport mode it flat out gets it.

You're leaving power on the table, but the hybrid gives you more low end torque, and the start/stop system is a lot less annoying on the hybrid since you don't actually need to start the engine to start moving. So there's trade offs each way. You can actually overthink it, but I wouldn't. The hybrid is the more popular option for pretty good reasons. Unless you're planning to tow or off-road, where the EcoBoost has clear advantages.

You will love the hybrid. Also it’s not lacking power. It will do 0-60 in 7 seconds and it feels faster than that because it’s instant power. As for mpg. I’m averaging 30mpg but it has been very cold and I only have 400 miles on it.

You have 110 mile commute. Get the hybrid.
I don't have 25, I have 23 Hybrid.
25 Hybrid AWD with 4K tow is the whole enchilada. 40 plus mpg, 4,000 lb towing capability, AWD, pickup. Was not even possible until Ford did it.

I'll be honest with you, I had some doubts that I made the right choice with the hybrid. It's been super cold here for most of the 5 weeks I've had it, and the mileage is just OK when it's cold. Running the heat, heated seats, and steering wheel takes a lot of power, and mileage suffers. That said, the heated steering wheel alone is worth the tradeoff when it's that cold.

We've also had a few nice days over that time, and the mileage was a ton better then. The last few days have been in the 50's, maybe even 60's, so I haven't needed the heat and the mileage is much more impressive. I feel like I'm finally driving the truck I expected it to be, and it's great.

Also, it's "just" a hybrid, but it's pretty zippy if I want it to be. It's in Normal mode by default when it starts, so that's usually what I'm in, and it moves nicely when I punch it. When I change it to Sport mode it's got even more. I'm sure the Eco engines have a bit more juice, but I definitely don't feel underpowered in my hybrid. I'm loving that little truck.

We're heading to Kansas City next week, which is about a 5 hour drive on the interstate, so I'll have a chance to see how it really does on the highway. It'll definitely be more efficient than my F350.

Honestly, I think the complaints about the hybrid mileage in the cold is a bit overblown. Sure, you won't be getting 40mpg with all the heated things running, but it won't be too far off from what the Ecoboost gets all the time. Mine was averaging mid 20's at its worst, which is still pretty decent, comparatively. I'd say stick with the hybrid, I don't think you'll regret it.

I'm not seeing why this question comes up on here so often. I think it's pretty simple with the Mav. If you want Solid performance with GREAT mileage, get the Hybrid. If you want Awesome performance with with decent/better than any full size P/U mileage....get the Ecoboost. It's the same body....with only two engine choices. I mean....you've come this far in your life making all kinds of decisions.........come on....you know what you want. :p :p :p

I have a 24 lariat instead of a 25 but I do have an 80 mile commute that is all highway and thought about the Ecoboost when I was getting ready to buy mine and the main deciding factor for me was the type of fuel. When you factor in running 87 octane at 35 mpg in the hybrid and 93 octane at 30 mpg in the Ecoboost it becomes a significant cost difference. Over the five months I've owned my hybrid I have also learned tips and tricks to maximize my mpg while highway driving and it makes a huge difference. The highway rating for my 24 lariat is only 33 mpg but I was getting 36 mpg from the start and when I understood how to pulse down hills I've gone up to 40 or more. Also, I work at a diesel pickup repair shop and drive big trucks on the regular and do not feel under powered in my hybrid.

I believe the vast majority of Maverick owners are very happy and are having no problems, Hybrid or Eco.
The bulk of people in the Forum clubs are either enthusiasts or complainers.
More than half the questions I see in here could easily be answered by looking in the owners manual.

As for the dreaded battery Issue,
Mine came with an AGM and it seems when an AGM goes in problems fade away.

IMHO the Maverick is a really nice mini truck.
But it’s way too complex. It’s the first time I’ve ever bought a ‘loaded’ model.
The Lariat trim has grown on me.
But I’m still having to spend a little time reading in the owners manual.

As for fuel efficiency I don’t drive my Ecoboost like grandma nor do I sport mode it. I drive in the Appalachian Mountains so I’m in the throttle often.

My mpg average seems to stay around 26 on this winter fuel with my fifteen minute warm ups in the morning.

I have no doubt that as the engine fully breaks in I’ll average about 28 mpg’s.
I have taken one 200 mile ride with an equal mix of city, Interstate and country back roads. The trip average was 31 mpg.
The Eco excels at 80 mph interstate speeds. It always feels very strong and at 90 mph the Ecoboost is not even trying.

I just didn’t need the hybrid fuel economy and the Ecoboots power makes me smile.
When pulling up longer climbs at speed or when loaded and climbing the hybrid batteries don’t last long, minutes at best. Then you’re on the ICE and alone it has far less power than the Eco.

For the majority of commuters and city dwellers the Hybrid is by far the better choice in my book. I’m just not that.

FWIW I tried premium fuel, I saw nor felt no difference in mpg’s or power.
But then again I don’t push my Ecoboost into the performance envelope where I might feel the 93 octane nor do I load it down where I’d need the added knock resistance of premium.

In the USA, at 72-75mph , on long highway trips, in ECO mode, I generally average 32-33mpg (did over 36 mpg for 200mile trip once).. In Mass, you'd probably drive a bit slower, so mileage would be favorable.. Mexico, same trips are about 29-31mpg.. more stops, speed bumps, rougher road .

equipped like yours except EB and MY24...

I've had my hybrid AWD for just over a month now, and I'm averaging 39.3 MPG. My driving is roughly 70% city and 30% highway—though that's just an estimate.

My commute to work is about 14 miles, and yesterday on the way home, I saw 64.2 MPG. I'm not sure how accurate that reading is, and I don't expect it every time, but it definitely caught me by surprise! The temp was I think right around 52-55 degrees so I did not have any heat on.

I'm averaging 42mpg and never have said to myself "I need more power". What exactly are you doing that will make you think it won't be enough? These are small trucks with small engines, the Hybrid has more than enough for highway and dirt road driving. I take mine everywhere.

I had a 2024 hybrid as a loaner for approximately two weeks. There was a considerable difference between that vehicle and my Eco boost as far as the response of this of the engine and the transmission. I am not concerned about the mileage so the eco-boost is definitely the right vehicle for me. Incidentally, the loaner was provided to me while my 2017 Ford edge was getting an engine replacement. That’s another story for another day.
