Camera recall …any news [update: recall issued]

Got a 23 XLT eco and haven't noticed any freezing of the camera but mine is just totally blurry even when clean. Useless when backing. What's up with that Mr. Ford.

Was everyone working on this project the "I don't ever use rear view cameras" type ?

Sounds like the lens for your camera is out of alignment. Take it to the dealership and get a replacement camera.

Ford Rep was in the other day while I was there.
He said that if you did deep enough you will see that the ACM in base is a upgraded fiesta ACM and from what I understand from him it will be a modified ACM with programming to simulate Sync
But again who knows ,We know Ford still is monitoring this site although they say they left .
One would think they would throw us a bone

And haven’t heard any good news on recall solution. Anyone hear anything?

I picked up my 2024 cowboy Edition on September 20th in Detroit. As I posted regardin gth ecamera, I was the rear vire camera "freeze" momentarilly once. When I was streaming a podcast from i HEART Radio. I looks like the microprocessor can't handle video over audio (speeds being different) Without a big discussion, solutions can be better real time interupting, larger memory , larger buffering or larger cash. and finally a faster processor.

Now having said that.. If you're listening to AM-FM radio and in reverse, there is no freezing of the backup camera as the AM-FM radio is no using any CPU time and th video is not getting interrupted.

I am an engineer but do not work for FORD, i am simply proposing my perception of what I see happening.

Now about a month ago I did a RESET of my display.. as i was tired of touch screen slowing as if it's cashe needed clearing.

once i did the reset..my backup camera display changed. i how have a "X" button in the upper left. toggling the "X" button, provides me 2 screens, one screen looking straight back as before and a second screen looking down at the trailer ball..

In either "X" button position, moving the gear selector from Reverse to Drive, the backup camera stays on till the vehicle reaches 5mph..

I also now find I loose google maps and the ability to touch screen into AM-FM radio short of pulling over turning off the ignition and restarting the display from the bannen- the FORD embem.

I also have not heard if they will provide customers with the FORD PASS CONNECT as stated on all window stickers. As I still cannot activate my 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. they advertised. It is my understand it was on the high end 2024 models, I have had no reports as if it is on 2025 models and/or advertised on the window stickers..

I was told there was a chip shortage that they would address later on.
Any on ehave the part number for the modem with the hotspot in it. So we can see if it can be ordered.??

False. My camera lags and freezes even if the radio is off.

Today backing up, my camera never came on. I don't depend on it, so I didn't notice it until after I almost fully backed up. When I looked at the monitor, it showed my radio and my cell phone connected. I then, I looked down at my gear shift selector to make sure I was in reverse, I was, but the camera never came on.

Must not be that important. Spoke to the dealer the other day. No, we do not have the fix for this yet but when we do, we will be sure to let you know. Yeah OK.

Now it is almost 6 months later and no fix. Pretty amazing that there has been this amount of emphasis placed on this issue. Ford, just give us the MY25 camera and updated code and be done with it., assuming that will fix the issue.

I’m puzzled why these trucks can’t be sold until the camera issue is fixed. For decades, vehicles didn’t have cameras. Why can’t buyers take possession, and once a fix is ready have the update installed?

Yep, and here's the law.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) requires that all new vehicles under 10,000 pounds have rear-view cameras. This law went into effect on May 1, 2018. The law was created to reduce the number of backover accidents, which are a leading cause of serious injuries and fatalities.

In short. If the camera does not work as the law intended.
The vehicle can not be sold.
