I did have same issue (see post 51) but chalked it up to me having door guards all the way around. I used a Dremel tool with just a sandpaper attachment to grind off a couple of mm of the edge on the marker area making contact. I really thought it was only because of my guards. That sanded area is so deep within the door frame I can't see it, plus I did a good job making it look perfect. Obviously it's your call to do this. I do think during the assembling process of our trucks there is some leeway on the cap between the door and fender, I remember reading that within the forum somewhere.
I did see another review of a competitor set that I also tried mention the issue, so I figured I wasn't alone. Appreciate the feedback.

Do you happen to have a close-up pic to share? I debated the mildly destructive approach but didn't want it to look like a hack-job. Curious what it looks like up close for both the aesthetic and angle you chose to grind?

I grinded the area where the top(lighted part) and bottom(back) meet, shaved off the "V" shape it had. I did drop it, so the scratches gave me the willingness to move forward and grind. The black extends out more than the silver area, so i basically used the silver as a guide. Here ya go...

OK, that's kind of what I had pictured you did and had the same idea. I thought about using some painter's tape to mask off and act as a guide. I'll give it some thought. It's just frustrating given the price and I was an original purchaser of version one which is no longer returnable so not crazy about sinking in deeper, if you know what I mean.

Thanks again, this is helpful!

I got mine taken apart at the moment, already started painting them. Only 4 screws hold the black cover on, the silver I'm painting black & the cover white.

Just got done with my second coat of primer.

So far they look great, hopefully they work just a good. I just would prefer Clear lenses over the leds vs smoked.

Nyce! I disagree, the smoke compliments the black center perfectly. Looking forward to your final glamour shot.

I'm thinking more of bright sunny days, You're hardly going to notice the leds with that smoked lens. They'd be 2x more visible if it were clear or even opaque amber.

I plan to also modify the original fender openings by painting it white and the XLT black I already have the clear lens covers for the center indentation along with a half inch round LED blinker from super bright LEDs.

Well they turned out really good, paint looks perfect. Need a sunny day, it's supposed to rain here tomorrow. I used tessa tape and wrapped the parts of the wires that were bare for a oem look, and less chance of a wire chaffing. I removed the air box inlet to ziptie the connecting wire over the radiator, as there's a wire harness above it and made it look more oem.

These do sit a good deal higher off the fender than the OEM insert, 5/16's higher than the door. I wish Mabett hadn't painted the area between the LEDs silver, just all black. Leave it up to the buyer to ptm or not.

Likely the raised portion is to make the turn signal easier to see.
