Shit happens - those were just examples. If your line of work has you working with your hands as your reply implies, I 'm certain you multitask on occasion and have your hands occupied with multiple tools, whatever. Your response alone dictates you're not immune from stupid, please carry on with...
The factory one does not have the extra cover below the handle which offers some scratch protection from finger nails, rings, keys in hand, etc. Granted, not everyone cares...
I used what was provided in combination with another bracket on Amazon. I considered printing one too but prefer the adjustability this allows with fine tuning the camera angle. Cost was minimal too.
@Maxzina similar question - could you tap into the side marker lights instead of the headlight and achieve similar operation to side marker lights instead? Asking because I already have your other side turn signal lights and wouldn’t want to lose functionality of those.
THIS - they are not uniform year to year or even model to model and tighter clearance on the passenger side is not uncommon. Unfortunately, if the manufacturers of these 3rd party add-ons do not do multiple testing across multiple model years and trim levels - some minor variances are likely to...
Hey Mike, tell me more about your eyelet right next to your installed ratchet bracket on the left driver side? Looks like a good match to the factory rail setup? Also curious about the hook one on the right passenger side. Did you DIY these or find them online and they happened to work well? Thanks!
OK, that's kind of what I had pictured you did and had the same idea. I thought about using some painter's tape to mask off and act as a guide. I'll give it some thought. It's just frustrating given the price and I was an original purchaser of version one which is no longer returnable so not...
I did see another review of a competitor set that I also tried mention the issue, so I figured I wasn't alone. Appreciate the feedback.
Do you happen to have a close-up pic to share? I debated the mildly destructive approach but didn't want it to look like a hack-job. Curious what it looks like...
Mine just came today and the first thing I did before wiring them up was a test fit on the passenger side because I have yet to find a set of these that does not bind on the passenger door when opening.
Sadly, these appear to bind worse than the other brand I have already tried two sets of...
Looks like this won't work on a Lariat? Anyone find a similar option that does? I like the idea of clean removal too. I searched around, but maybe I missed something.
It feels plenty solid and I don't think it is an issue. However, if I get some good weather I may climb back under and try shifting things around one more time. Either that or take it to a friend with a lift and see if that helps with maneuvering things around, etc.
As mentioned I attempted all these suggestions and it was just not quite enough to make it work. Maybe if I had a lift and an extra set of hands…
I may just drill out the hole wider and use a larger washer as someone else suggested. Overall, I’m satisfied. Was just a frustrating experience.
I guess I did not word that quite correctly, but yes agreed. From what I can see, should still be a pretty easy install on this shield unless I missed something.
Thanks for the clarification!
