Motocraft SAE OW - 20 discussion....

On my last XL oil change at the dealership, , the service technician listed * ow - 20 BLENDED SYNTHETIC OIL * on my report....after calling the service manager when I got home he assured me that * FULL SYNTHETIC OIL * was used....after reading a post on this forum someone posted that AII motocraft OW -20 is * FULL SYNTHETIC OIL *....this may not be accurate and I still don't know if I am using the right oil for my 2023 maverick.....

What does the manual say to use for your vehicle?
Use that!

Whether a dealer got it wrong or a forum member got it wrong,
you usually can't go wrong following the manual for your vehicle.

Full synthetic is what you want.
Blended or pure conventional won't hurt it.

I look at it this way in a hybrid:

Full Syth= change at 10,000 miles
Blended = change at 7500 miles
Conventional = change at 5000 miles

Did you guys know that most blends are only 10% Synthetic ?

Did you know I got 528,000 trouble free miles out of my Toyota Tacoma 2.7 liter 4 banger on Mobil one Full Synthetic oil and 10,000 mile service intervals. I worked it literally to death. Compression was dropping, ya think !
It lasted almost six years.

Wait for it,,, drum roll~~~~

Did you know my buddy with the same engine doing the same nuclear courier work traded in his five year old Tacoma with just over 500,000 miles still running like new? He used Jiffy lubes cheapest Non synthetic roach oil at 10,000 mile intervals…..

The blends are made to please the old guys so they think they are getting the best of both worlds.

I will run Motorcraft Full Synthetic and change every 5,000 miles. Why ? Because I want to.
And I no longer drive 90,000 to 110,000 miles a year.
Is there anybody out there ?

I’m quite aways from my first oil change (currently at 220 miles) and I plan to use a trusted shop that I’ve used for years verses a dealership my mechanic has advised me to use either one of these but I’m leaning more towards the Mobil 1 full synthetic at 7500 miles intervals

Ummm, no. Read your manual. It clearly states synthetic only. The blend oil is not suitable.

All Modern motor oils are API rated. As long as what you are putting in meets the requirements of the manufacturer you are good. That motorcraft oil is good and cheap. Sure Mobile One is excellent oil but I doubt it is worth the extra cost.

Had the same issue at my dealer. Printout says blend... Was charged for full synthetic, and questioned the dealer rep. Said full synthetic was used, wrong item chosen when printing paperwork. Previously (a few years ago on my Escape) they did use blend when I asked for synthetic, so I had to wait while they changed the oil again. That time I was only charged for blend, that is what caught my eye. ...
