By "do this", are you referring to turning on the flashers when a line of vehicles suddenly stops or slows? I do it ALL the time and keep watch in the rear view until I see they are slowing. I also leave enough interval so I have a buffer.
I was referring to the original comment about turning on your flashers anytime you approached stopped vehicles.
I can understand if there was an accident of course, but every time you approach stopped vehicles?

There was nothing mentioned in the original post about an accident or incident, just seemed like normal everyday driving. Maybe that's what they meant?

"It’s always a good idea to turn on your emergency flasher when you are approaching a line of stopped vehicles"

I've never heard of or seen anyone do this?
It's usually situational ....

On a freeway/interstate where traffic is typically always free-flowing,
I'd do it to alert others that speeds/conditions ahead are not typical.

On a regular road coming to a line of cars waiting for a light or stop signal (or lately round-a-bouts) ....
No ... I'm not going to bother with hazards in that latter situation.

I got a 2023 and recently was rear ended. The crash happened at pretty low speed I was going about 15mph and slowing down and driver was going about double the speed. Well the body was pushed and the passenger into the passenger rear door opening. Anyhow the truck being totaled. The Unibody is bent. The truck don’t hold up to well in a crash. Anyone else have issues.
I dented mine ... by opening the passenger door into my wife's car mirror (plastic).
If it crumples the way it is designed and you walk away ... count blessing.

Physically sensitive these little wonders are.

I also use my hazards to warn others of stopped or quickly slowing traffic.

Adding on to everyone else...any time a light turns yellow, I glance in my mirror to make sure there isn't A) a truck within any reasonable distance behind me, B) some idiot riding my bumper, or C) some idiot not looking ahead. If any one of those three are behind me, the light gets blown because they have a high probability of hitting me. You can stop much quicker than some moron can look up from their phone. As a part-time truck driver, try stopping 80-160k pounds...ain't gonna happen quickly. Kinda glad I don't spend much time in a truck anymore cause other drivers get more oblivious by the minute.

You turn your Hazard lights on every time you come to a stop light behind a line of cars?

I'm pretty sure you know what he was referring to.... Me thinks you're just throwing shade...

I do wish we had separate turn signals instead of both lights being brake only. Sometimes I think if people saw the lights flashing they would think someone is just tapping the brake, and not actually stopping.

I don't think Mavericks are any more prone to being written off in the type of accident. My neighbour swears by his Dodge pickups and was hit from almost the same angle - right rear.
The box seemed twisted, although it didn't look too bad. Turns out, the frame was collapsed on that side, the bed was twisted and had contacted the cab. Two years old and was written off.
Not a unibody, but a full size, full frame two year old pickup.

Yeah, my Stang was a '91, no side airbag and the one in the steering wheel did not deploy because it was a side impact. The driver's door was pushed in over a foot and the door frame bent up into an "A" shape buckling the roof right over to the opposite side. They had to cut out the door and snip the bottom 1/2 of the steering wheel off to get me out. I received life changing injuries but thankfully no head injury. Needless to say, I always look at the crash ratings when I buy a new vehicle. My other serious accident was on a Motocycle and once again not my fault. I did not replace the bike!
My first new car was a 1980 Chevy Luv. I had it a week when I was rear ended at a traffic light. My head went throgh the back window. No headrest on that car. Kid was driving a 60s camaro with about 4 other kids in it. Said his Dad told him not to take the car because of a brake issue. The GF and myself were ok but had headaches for a while.

I have never come close to being rear-ended since I've gotten my Maverick, but in the 6 months I've owned it I've had four or five cars pull out in front of me. I'm like, what am I freaking invisible? Couple days ago a UPS truck started to pull out and if I didn't hit my brakes he would have slammed right into my side. And then he gave me a look, like he was saying, "sowwy.".

After reading about the accidents that people have had I thought well things happen. But I've had more close calls in the 6 months of this Maverick than I did in the previous 20 or 25 years of driving my Camry and my Plymouth Voyager. There must be something about the Maverick.
No, people in general are just getting stupider. Actually driving the vehicle is a lot less important to most of them than playing with their phone in the vehicle.

Your truck vs. your life.

Sucks, but there will be another truck. There is only one of you. For all I care, the thing can crush itself entirely around me, as long as I'm safe.

Something I've always noticed. Sometimes you have to squint and ask yourself "Brakes? Or Indicator?" Especially on dirty vehicles.

Even some new safer vehicles have odd choices for front and rear indicators and lights. Having no universal standard is a shame.

I did it driving truck, and alot of other truckers did it, too.

Then you have to remember to turn the flashers back off once the traffic gets back up to speed. Doh! 😏

I personally noticed alot of aggressive driving during the pandemic, when traffic volumes dropped, atleast locally. People driving very fast in residential areas. It never seemed like it went back to what I thought was normal. Maybe I'm just getting older, crotchetier and it's not as different as it feels to me?

There are alot of aggressive, distracted, and angry drivers out there, and I know that's not just in my head.
If you are like my son who is an OTR trucker, he went from pretty mild mannered speech to a lot of explitives once he became a trucker. Also likes to tell dad that none of us "four wheelers" know how to drive.

I would like to have Amber rear turn signals. Like I had on my Buick Encore. I had changed them out for LED's. They were bright about as bright on the rear of my Encore as my switchbacks are on the front of my Maverick
Here's a video I turn my signals off and on to demonstrate. If you watch the street signs when I turn on my signals it lights them up there's no mistaking I'm making a turn.
Others in front of me have their signals on.
