Rear seat bottom/bench, does it lock in the down position?

Hi everyone, sorry for what might be a very dumb question, but I've searched the forum and Google, and can't quite find an answer specific to the Maverick.
Does the rear seat bottom (bench portion) lock in the down position? It locks in the raised position fine, and the pull tabs bring it back down. However, even if I try to slam the bench down, it doesn't do more than half lock it in place. I can simply grab the seat bottom and pull up 99% of the time, the other 1% requires a wiggle or two but it comes up without pulling the release.
I do have seat covers but they don't appear to be interfering with anything obvious.
Side question: are the 3 rubber bumpers supposed to go all the way inside the 3 notches in the under seat area? Reaching my hand under makes it seem like they're sitting on top of the metal/plastic.
Again sorry for the noob question, and I really appreciate any help here before taking it to the dealer

Yes it locks down. Mine has some wiggle, but you can't pull it up without pulling the loop.
Thank you, mine requires just the slightest effort and it'll come up.
Anything to note about the rubber bumpers on the front of the bench? Do they sit fully inside the notches? If so, I think that could be my issue and 5 minutes of adjusting may be all I need

If it were light out I'd make you a video of my rear bench seat.
Video made post #7 👇

I just lift ours up, there is not lock or latch.

If you have any videos of yours showing it not locking, it sure would be helpful.

There are two black loops on one on the driver side one on the passenger side to release the seat bottom.
Here is the video👇of the rear bench seat locked and released.
It should lock in the up position also.
Released by either one of those two straps.

I drop mine from about a foot high, say at a 45 degree angle.
It locks every time with no drama and a good positive click.
It would not just shut when in contact. I used a little chalk.
It lines up perfectly.
I bet the stiff latch will get better.

Took a quick video showing that it locks in the up position, then I basically let it fall under its own weight. Then, I reached under the seat cushion, past the release strap, gave a couple of low effort wiggles, and the bench came right back up and locked in place again in the upward position
It does seem like the driver side isn't latching correctly, it is much easier to pull it up from the driver side without the strap vs the passenger side

very strange MTC would take the video, with audio, but no video.
I can see Glen's video.

Didn't realize you can see where the rubber stoppers hit with it down. If not figured out later I'll look and take a pic.

Mine works just like Glen's. I don't have to drop it either, I can slowly lower it down until the stops hit the rim of the storage area and it locks in place. I can see Glen's video but I can't see the video @AngryGoose posted. I get a format/MIME type error.

Interesting, I've been able to watch it on the site after uploading just fine, but I can try to mess with it later, I may remove the seat cover on the bench and see if that helps at all (I hadn't lifted the rear seat before installing them)

Your video works for me on an Android phone.
Yep, your locking mechanism is screwed up.
I wonder if one of your locking pins is broke. Which kind of leads me to think of another thread. Hmm
