@dpbain1 , if this is the 2nd time you're un-happy with the trade-in/upgrade experience, either you need to find a new dealer, or become a better negotiator.

I traded in a '24 Lariat for a '24 Lariat Tremor, paid the delta, and am enjoying the new truck. Maybe you should have done more research before ordering the '25?

I'm sorry, but some of these posts recently seem to have ZERO thought put into them
Moderation on this site leaves a lot to be desired. I've resorted to just reporting all low effort/political/claims-without-sources posts. Sent a note to the mods yesterday but have yet to hear back.

Like what is this thread even about? Dealerships/Carvana/CarMax only exist to make money. Is OP mad about the dealership model?

This is all I'd trade my 22 hybrid in for. You're not going to beat the value of a 22 or 23 hybrid any day ever again, so tremor xlt is all I could live with otherwise because the smiles per miles would be so much higher

You'll always get "screwed" if you trade in a year old vehicle....

Also on another note, what did you pay a year ago, and what did you hope to get for it?
Well, not always. I drove my MY22 Ecoboost XL for 2 years and 37K miles and was paid 500.00 more than I paid for it. That was my best auto deal ever. That was because it was a great deal in 2022 but not so much anymore. I like my 2024 Hybrid, other than the junk 12v battery, but can not rationalize the cost to upgrade to a 25 Hybrid AWD with 4K towing. Although that does sound like the perfect setup. I will keep my eye out for a used model but will not buy new.

Sorry, i was referring to year 2025 trade ins. The maverick was a new, very "rare" and sought after car for a few years. Much less so now with all new and used cars readily available. I guess what I'm saying is that a lot has changed in 2-3 years.

The AWD Lariat I ordered way back in early September finally arrived today. Unfortunately, I decided not to buy it. I have a 2024 Lariat hybrid now with just 2,900 miles on it in virtually showroom condition. The dealer's offer was a pathetic $30K so when it was all send and done with taxes, registration, etc., I would still be stuck with just over $10K! I felt I got screwed on an immaculate, very low mileage F-150 Super Crew that I traded in for my "24" and told myself it won't happen again! I wanted the "25" for the all-wheel drive, the larger screen and cameras all around rather than just in back. To me, those weren't worth $10K. I really like my "24", its overall 44 mpg to date, it's handling, it being actually fun to drive, and not having to search forever finding a parking spot at Home Depot or WalMart! So yes, I'm quite disappointed after waiting 4 months and not being able make the purchase. Finally, if you're planning on trading in your older Maverick, BEWARE! And be prepared to "bend over" you could say.
...what!!#@+
A car dealer tried to rip you off...wtf!@×+#÷@
Seriously though, I ordered a 25' & I think you did the right thing...Sorry it didn't work out for you, but you still have a great truck...at a good price

In seriousness, try buying a vehicle only for it get to put on a stop-delivery due to a camera recall before you can leave the dealership. Three months later, having never moved, you can't trade it in because it is by definition "used" and its value has gone down $10K in value. But it is too soon to claim Lemon Law.

So, anyway, my wife loves her Explorer now...

Public Service Announcement: Don't waste money.
Buying a new vehicle every 1-3 years usually does that.

Blah blah blah. This ain't a truck. It's a good version. But it is an SUV MINI with a bed. Due to demand it is ridiculously priced. I like the idea and wanted an economy car. This fits the bill so I don't have to wear out my real truck. I don't understand the excitement like this is a special addition super car people are willing to get jacked from. Many recalls. Why do owners wave to me. It's not all that, it's a poor man's price hiked truck.

This was my similar experience at my local dealership last week. I also decided to walk away because of what I considered a low-ball trade-in value, which was $31,000. That's according to Carmax. However, from what I've seen in the comments, that's not bad at all. That would be considered pretty good or just normal depreciation. And yes, I'm aware that the car flipping days are over. No longer can you trade in a vehicle and either get full MSRP or over.

What wasn't constituted, though, was the lack of negotiation. If the dealer really wanted to make a sale and keep a repeat customer happy, they would've made something happen. That was more upsetting than anything. I've been doing business with them for the last four years and never had an issue until now. Don't get me wrong, the salesman and sales manager weren't pushy by any means but I think it's their business model that prevents from negotiating. They advertise with "upfront pricing" and "no dealer fees." So you pay the upfront price, nothing more and nothing less. That leads me to believe you cannot negotiate. Take it or leave it. Now I know.

Although I have a wonderful vehicle as is, I was hoping to reap the benefits of having Hybrid efficiency for the first time as well as having the nicer, Sync 4 setup. Though, it's not too late. I can always look around other dealers but you can't beat the practicality of doing business with a dealer five minutes down the road from you. But unfortunately, they let me down.
