Just A Heads Up. Looks like a future recall. This happened to me and the dealership replaced the battery.

SSM 53087 2022-2024 Maverick - FHEV - Intermittent 12V Battery Drain When the Ignition Is Turned Off
Some 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles equipped with 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) powertrain mayexperience an intermittent 12V battery drain condition when the ignition is turned off. If the 12V battery drains, perform a 12V power reset to the vehicle by disconnecting the 12V battery negative cable for 5 minutes. Fullycharge the 12V battery and use the Rotunda GRX-3590 or DCA-8000 tester to determine if replacement isneeded. If replacement is needed, fully charge the new battery and perform a battery monitor sensor (BMS)reset. Engineering is currently working on a software solution for this condition that is expected in the firstquarter of 2025. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customersonce the repair becomes available

Welcome to the forums, Ron. This is an extremely well known issue that is supposed to be recalled sometime this quarter.

This has been a known issue (by Ford) since Oct 24. As an owner, I was never made aware of this issue. Nor, did I know it was an issue until it happened to me and I started researching it. I submitted this in this forum to make others aware, be prepared in case it does happen to them, and not get blindsided as I did. In my case, they did replace the battery. I'm keeping my fingers crossed until a software patch comes out.

This notice sent to dealers was posted in one of the other threads. That said, it's not a bad idea to have a stand alone thread, so it's easier to find for people with the search function.

The recall hasn't been sent to people yet correct?

At this time there is no recall for this issue. It may end up being a customer satisfaction program, or just a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) to dealers.

I see damn I need this.. 2nd battery only 4000 miles and it keeps randomly draining on me, pretty annoying.

Battery Issue: 6/24. The dealer replaced battery. 12/24. The battery drained four times in four days. 1/6/25. The dealer shows me SSM53087. They fully charged the battery, and I am on my way. If it fails again before they find a fix, I'm heading for the Lemon tree. 8 recalls on this vehicle so far, including needing a full engine replacement. I am not trusting my truck.

My 2022 Maverick has the same issue. Delivered March 2022, 24,000 miles now.

I frequently get a message on the Fordpass app.
"Remote features disabled to preserve battery".
Your Ford ...has entered Deep Sleep mode to conserve battery energy..."

I got it back from the dealer today. They performed diagnostics for 2 days and did not find a cause, but they found the SSM 53087 mentioned above. The customer service advisor assured me that Ford will repair this after my warranty expires in March 2025, because it was known problem during the warranty period.

I previously took it to the same dealer with the same problem in Feb 2024 (1 year ago). During that visit, they attributed the problem to my aftermarket devices (dash cam parking monitor).
Since then, I removed all aftermarket devices and began tracking every incident.

This time, the dealer replaced the battery (again). This is my 3rd battery. The original battery was replaced just 12 months ago. Fortunately, both replacements were done under warranty.

I have been tracking incidents of going into Deep Sleep Mode (DSM) since my Fed 2024 visit.

The primary use for this vehicle is my son driving to high school. DSM occurs about 15 times/month when he is driving to school. We eventually swapped vehicles to eliminate driver error.

DSM occurs about 7 times/month when I am driving (mostly short trips), but it also occurred immediately after a long drives.

Like the others, I am frustrated . I love the truck, but am very concerned about getting stuck with a problem.

Curious what trim?
Keyless entry?
Area with good ATT coverage?

If curious if this battery has been on a shelf for awhile - week/year stamp on the negative post.

Assuming that they tested the battery correctly, maybe you have a bad connection somewhere. You can pretty easily do a crude determination of the battery status yourself, by waiting overnight to get rid of the surface charge, and then measuring the voltage. It should be around 12.4V on a full charge. Anything under 12.0V will probably cause the DSM. 12.4V is unusual rtight now, given that the battery management software is broken and not doing the correct charging curve. Then put the battery on a charger to fully charge it, and repeat the test after at least a couple of hours waiting time. If it is still low at that point, then you have a sulphated battery. If it is ok then maybe check the ground termination under the hood, as some people have mentioned that it had paint underneath the connector.

Hi Haybales. Thanks for your comment.

Trim: XLT, hybrid
Keyless entry: Not sure I understand the question. I have Keypad on the door.
ATT coverage: 5G+ in my city. I don't have ATT, but cell is a little spotty at home, we need WIFI calling for good cell usage.

Battery Shelf: I'm assuming the two batteries replaced at the Ford dealer were ok. The first battery came with the truck. The second was from the dealer.

Do you think WIFI is part of the problem?

DSM happens almost every day that my son drives to high school , but seldom otherwise.
He parks on the back side of a hill away from the school, and probably isolated from cell towers. I'm really curious about your thoughts in WIFI as an issue. Here are the coordinates where the car is parked when DSM usually happens (33.539856576083324, -117.66676750666926).

Keyless entry is when your fob moves close to truck, it preps for unlock via handle touch, and preps some other systems for driving. You don't have to press unlock button on fob.
Non-keyless you have to push the fob button to send signal to truck to unlock, and then it preps.
Keypad is that too, unless it's actually the factory option wired in.

In either case - the truck is 24 hrs listening for a fob. Keyless has more antennas as it has to distinguish fob in the cab or outside.
So that's not the problem.

Does the dealer report the battery is good, do they say or the paperwork give a SOH reading?
They care if it drops below it appears 40%.
I'd hope they don't call 50% good, but would rather explain it's not bad enough yet.

If your cell carrier is spotty at home, and usually the 3 carriers share the same towers, ATT could easily be spotty weak signal too.
That runs a phone battery down quicker as it has to increase the signal on it's side to be heard by tower.
So too the truck - it appears to only connect hourly to keep unused connection up, but there's extra power used if weak cell signal.
Not sure what happens if really bad signal and it doesn't always get a response back from Ford's server - is it willing to sit there for 15 min every hour constantly trying to get the connection up, or a response back, before it's successful or gives up?
That's a lot of power use attempting that.

WiFi - you have the in-truck WiFi option being used, where your phone connects to the truck wifi?
If so, the truck then sends all that wifi data out the ATT modem - while truck is running or key to On mode - no big whoop, power is coming from HVB.
If sitting in Accessory mode - no good, especially where there is potentially weak signal.

If you mean the info-center option to have WiFi on for the truck to check for updates - as long as it's close enough to get on the wifi, it's once a day - and there are none.
WiFi uses less power than cellular, so even terrible wifi doesn't use that much power.
Now if it was actually downloading data over bad connection, ok that's bad.
But the non-Lariats have no radio updates. So wasted action might as well disable.

The poster you are talking to has a pre-MY25 XLT. MY22-24 only the Lariat has this feature.

I know - but he didn't know what that meant at all. So a little education too.
