how would you tell?
It should be on the data sheet/ window sticker.
If it’s an add on they’re gonna list it.
No features get left out of the list I’d bet.
The more they list the more they can charge.

You know the transmission in the EB Maverick is an GM design... right?
Its not. The EcoBoost 8-speed is a co-design between GM and Ford, manufactured in a common assembly plant. The Hybrid eCVT is a co-design between Toyota and Ford, but is manufactured in separate plants.

The easiest way to tell is to look for the plug, sitting on the top left (while standing in front of the open hood) radiator mount area with a cap on it. Its a really stupid place to put it if you actually use it. I added a foot-long extension cord to bring it outside the hood.

Thank god they get help using successfully proven technology. Left to their own devices and engineering hasn't worked to well recently. The eCVT is Toyota's design, licensed by Ford. Used for many years before the Escape and Maverick. The Escape's size, overall design and drivetrain mimicks the RAV4's.

Why this miss information continues to get spouted everywhere I don’t know. The eCVT is based on an AISIN design, and while Toyota is a majority shareholder in the company, it is not specifically a Toyota design. It dates back to the time period when Ford and Toyota had a Hybrid technology sharing agreement from 2008-2013.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/cars...ln-recall-bronco-explorer-ranger/86722282007/

Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 60,000 Ford and Lincoln vehicles due to a potential fire hazard.

The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker reported to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) the engine block heater in some vehicles may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing a short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
I live in Alberta, Canada, and the temps are dipping below -30C this week; it’s ridiculous to not have a block heater in this climate, especially when I’ve paid for it and am paying interest on it even though I DON’T have it?
I’m concerned that there will be long term unnecessary damage or wear to my engine from this.
A short circuit in the engine block heater increases the risk of an under-hood fire, Ford wrote in a letter to dealerships dated Wednesday, Oct. 15.

According to the NHTSA report, owners were advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is fixed.

The auto manufacturer said it was not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries connected to the issue.

Ford models being recalled
  • 2016-2019 Lincoln MKC
  • 2016-2018, 2020-2023 Ford Explorer
  • 2019-2020 Ford Fusion
  • 2019-2024 Ford Ranger
  • 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair
  • 2020-2022 Ford Escape
  • 2021-2024 Bronco, Bronco Sport
  • 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles

What should I do if my Ford is recalled?
Dealers will replace the block heater free of charge, the NHTSA recall notice said.

Notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners by Oct. 24. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, potentially in February 2026.

Ford recall number:
Owners can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.

The number for this recall is 25SA4.

Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.nhtsa.gov.

Nope, its a common transmission developed by Ford and GM. The GM ones are failing due to poor software causing slushy shifting to eat the clutchpacks.

It certainly does. It is standard equipment in Canada, and optional in the U.S.
It was optional here in Canada on my 24 Eco FX4. Didn’t opt for it, not that cold in my neck of the woods.
IIRC, The engine block heater was standard only on the MYs '22 &'23 in Canada, optional after.
