After taking delivery of my 2025 Lobo 702A, I dropped it off to the R&D department of Fortune Auto. Over the course of a week, they took measurements and scans, noting any differences between the 22-24 platform, of which there were a few. They developed a prototype coilover kit using their 500 series hardware.

I'll be providing feedback and working with them to get the kit dialed in for future production.

Initial impressions are excellent, with reduced body roll while maintaining a firm and sporty, but not punishing ride. Of 24 damping settings, it's currently set to 6 clicks from full soft in front and 8 from full soft in the rear. It's running 4k springs up front and 9k in the rear. Ride height has been lowered to the point of an even gap between the fender and tire front and back, and has plenty of remaining adjustment up or down.

The only con so far is increased NVH from the front strut towers and camber plates, as is sometimes the case with aftermarket suspension. I'm working with them to try various solutions to help bring the NVH back down to OEM levels.

More to come!

wdninja please keep me posted I like that they are making a kit for the LOBO and not like the other vendors using the same kits for the older models.

I've been holding off lowering my LOBO would purchase this kit.

Thanks

What does NVH in your post mean?

I'm curious why the front end would be noisier, are they using pillow ball upper mounts?

My understanding is the camber plates/upper mounts currently installed do not have much noise reduction, but they have other options that do. I'm not sure if the current setup is straight up spherical, already has some attempt at NVH reduction such as a pillow ball, or something else.

Since this is just phase 1 of the prototype/feedback process, I'll get more detailed information as we iterate and update this thread.

looking at their homepage it appears that they do have standard and spherical bearing tops available.

spherical bearings are noisier in my experience, making a sound like scissors cutting paper when they move. but they're better for controlling the strut.

what I think would be critical for a new application is that they fit the upper strut mounts exactly. there are several coilovers sold for Mavericks that require slotting or cutting new holes in the truck, which I really don't like, and isn't a compromise you should have to make on a street driven vehicle. if they can't offer camber/caster adjustment while retaining the stock strut top bolt holes, I would skip it.

Update!

Fortune Auto swapped out the caster/camber plates for softer, rubberized top mounts and spring isolators. The NVH is massively improved.

I have testing to do on a variety of surfaces, but so far so good, and this is how the production set will come.

Good idea. The road noise transmitted by solid upper mounts is unbearable in street use. Even stiff urethane mounts will drive you up the wall after a while

Excellent! And this will be the thing that separates these folks from the competition

Please keep the updates coming

Update:

The initially installed top mount camber plate and the lack of any NVH reduction made the first iteration of the prototype setup unbearably loud, filling the cabin with vibrations.

Since then, the following changes were made to the setup by the Fortune Auto team:
  • Swapped the camber adjustable spherical bearing top plates for a non-adjustable plate with a captive rubber bushing
  • A sealed thrust bearing was installed under this plate to support the spring and allow for spring rotation during steering
  • Typically, this assembly has a plastic isolator between the perch and the spring to prevent metal-to-metal contact, but it was replaced with a rubber isolator to further eliminate spring noise
This is how these will come for the production sets, which are now available at the Fortune Auto site:
https://shop-fortune-auto.com/products/ford-maverick-awd-p758-2022-500-series-coilovers

I have an alignment scheduled for next week, at which point I'll provide another update with notes such as any requirements or recommendations for front camber bolts or adjustable rear control arms, given the removal of the adjustable top plates.
