235/65/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires on my 2024 Hybrid

Looked at a lot of other tire posts before deciding on these. Found them on Facebook marketplace for a really good deal. Should only be out about 100 bucks total after selling the bronco sport wheels they came on. Just wanted to leave some pics to help others decide in the future. Went with the 235/65/17 size because they are only about ~31 to ~32ish pounds. 245s were much heavier. These are actually slightly lighter than the wildpeak trails in the same size. I think they look great and should help me next winter. (Thought I was gonna die a few times with the stock continentals).
Expecting a small drop in gas mileage but hopefully not too much.

This is an awesome and appropriate choice for your location, with both urban and AT opportunities in abundance. I think what's questionable is the ability of Hybrid Mav's CVs/suspension setup to handle the extra weight over the long haul. Given they designed it with 24 lb tires.

It will be interesting to see if you ended up needing CV or other suspension upgrades to really make it work long term. Not worth it for my location but I certainly would do it if I were you.

I ghave the same tires on mine and dropped from 40 MPGs to 32 MPGs. Measured at the pump everytine i fuel and never with the computer. Lemme know if you dropped your MPGs.

Odd, I put those on my 2021 Bronco Sport Base with the 1.5 Ltr 3 cylinder Dragon engine.
26 mpg’s just like before with the factory tires. I also went up to 235’s from 225’s and due to the larger tire volume I dropped one pound of tire pressure for even wear per my tire depth gage.
On my occasional Interstate trips 29 mpg just like before on the Continental’s.

My Ecoboost Mav is still on the factory spec Michelins. They did fine this past winter. No complaints.

I have the same tire in the stock 225 size for about a year now. Very happy with them.

I have them also, and love them. At interstate speeds, they appear to cost me about 2 mpg compared to the stock Michelin Primacy 225/60-18. No difference that I've noticed in town, but I'm probably 80/20 highway.

This tire does everything I need for light offroad and wintry conditions, and it has really excellent handling and grip on dry roads as well. Low road noise. It's pretty much a goldilocks tire, and I'm not sure why they discontinued it since the AT4W is considerably different. (Heavier and tougher.)

One thing you have to keep in mind is that the odometer will be slightly under reporting your miles because of the increased tire size. If you aren’t taking that into consideration when doing your calculation, then your miles per gallon is probably actually a little better than that.

That’s good to hear. A 2mpg drop on the highway isn’t bad at all. Got the same gas milage as the stock tires on my 15 mile commute to work today (~47mpg) so that’s a good sign. My commute is about half 55mph highway and half city at 35mph so
It will be interesting to see the difference long term.

actually, you could lose a little more since you have a hybrid and I have an ecoboost. I think it's very much worth it to have a superior tire. it's the only thing touching the ground, after all!

He will need CV axles regardless, it is a faulty manufacturing issue with all the stock CV axles on the 2022-2024 starting at around 20,000 miles

I don't think you understand how circumference works. Speed and odometer are based on tire revolutions. Larger circumference, more distance travelled per revolution while the computer thinks you are traveling the amount of a smaller tire.

Larger tires will affect the amount of miles that show on the odometer. Since the truck is calibrated for 225/65/17 tires and I put larger 235s on, the odometer will show slightly less miles traveled over time. This also means that the mpg shown on the screen should actually be slightly higher.

Of course they do, since the OP has changed to a larger diameter (OD) tire than originally equipped. Unless he goes into Forscan and changes the diameter value.
