Tow hitch cam! ==> Put tailgate in 1/2 open position

Forgive me if this is widely known, but today I discovered if you put the tailgate in the 1/2 open position the reverse camera perfectly centers over the tow hitch making lining up a trailer much easier! Just thought i'd share this discovery

Neat! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a reviewer on YT mention this. As a soon to be first truck owner this is helpful. Guessing this is tribal knowledge for all the long time truck people

Normal isn't bad. But I will try this out..... eventually.

There's also a camera "zoom" button. The plus sign.

Beware though,.... an open tailgate will hit some trailer jacks and not others. Could do real damage.

I found this out the frustrating way this summer when I put the truck in reverse and was staring at my tow hitch on the camera. Thinking that something was terribly wrong with the camera I walked around to the back of the truck only to find the tailgate was down and I had forgot!

I am a long time truck owner but a first time truck owner with a back up cam.

Approaching 2 yrs of ownership, discovered a hidden feature this week, the arrow underneath both front windshield sun shade visors. You can slide the sun shade visors to the right or left to block the sun, extending the sun shade visor, especially helpful blocking the sun on the sides, all the way back to the B-pillar. My Honda Element had this and it was very handy when driving into bright sun and heat, almost a hidden feature on the Mav.

I will definitely use the trailer hitch rear camera feature since I pull a trailer on a regular basis...Thanks for pointing it out. The + - sign to zoom the camera is a nice touch most will not know about.

Also when plugging in trailer lights cable into the Maverick trailer hitch, the Display Screen will notify you if a Trailer Light is not working...I was impressed.

FYI - never leave a wrench, screw drive or anything on the rear bumper and lower the tailgate fully...or you will most likely dent the tailgate sheet metal.

we previously owned a 2011 (12?, 13?, don't quite remember) F150 Lariat with a backup camera. Tiny screen incorporated into the left side of the rear-view mirror. After a few years of ownership I discovered you can zoom the camera to better view your tow-hitch. Game changer!

Good to know… I was also planning on salvaging my aftermarket backup cam off of my SUV before I sell or trade it and making a cord that plugs in to the 12v connector in the box so I can add any external view anywhere I needed one (ie back of trailer). I figured if I mount it on one of those strong magnets, add a little felt to keep it from scratching, I could mount it anywhere there is metal.
