I am not sure if this has been posted before but for people that do not want to replace the rear speakers but at the same time install a sub and amplifier. You can use the following location to tap into the left and right speakers. Should make it easier considering you won't have to dismantle everything. Hope everyone finds this useful. If it has been posted before, my apologies.

How did this work out? From info on this forum the supply to the rear pillars speakers is only high frequency for tweeters, if this is false please let us know. It would make installing a rear upgrade much easier. I was thinking of putting speakers in the rear doors, that are similar to the ones in the front doors if the supply is full range.

Thanks for sharing! I am just in the middle of a little sound upgrade. I had a solid kenwood excelon amp that I plan to use to pump a little pioneer enclosure that fits perfect under the rear seat. I am also replacing all 4 speakers with kicker ks series that I had from anothe car I sold. Front are components and I am currently trying to figure out how to mount the tweeters since I lost all the adapters from kicker... :S I want to moun them flush on the side door covers. You should share more about your audio upgrade! :)

Regards!
Marco

Currently my sub is working without any issues using the rear speakers for the source. I did also see that others were having problems but it worked fine for me. I did use this converter which maybe helped with that problem, I don't really know for sure since I didn't encounter that issue.

In a moist--especially saltwater--environment t-taps (and their Scotchlok sibling) can be an ingress point for corrosion spreading within the wire jacket. Too small and they can damage the wire strand, promoting overall breakage. Both end up making them especially bad used on any low voltage data signaling lines. They're typically the weak point in quick'n'dirty remote start installs wherein the key security authentication starts malfunctioning due to failing integrity.

I'm still fine tuning the box to get the most out of it. I ended up buying some m6 30mm bolts to get a bit more clearance in the back. For now it sounds good with the box I put together with scrap MDF I had laying around. I might have to buy a different sub that requires less cubic feet. The one I have now needs .50 but I saw a different sub working with as little as .18.

I'm not sure but I think maybe the people that are saying the rear signal has only high end are listening to their system in "driver " occupancy mode instead of "all seats"

When you listen In driver only mode they do cut low end but if you listen in all seats there is no cut, it's full range

You could be right about that. I know when I tested that out at first before putting in the sub it did cut out the back with driver mode selected.

So I just tested it out putting on driver mode and it did cut out my sub.

That box shape&size is interesting ... I was not able to find any passive sub enclosure that fit in the back of the seat but only active subs. Once you have it ready please share the dimensions of the sub box :)

Btw here is my end result for mounting the tweeter w/o the kicker adapters. I will continue today with the 2nd tweeter (passenger side) and then I plan to mount the kenwood amp behind the rear seats, I will be using a 60x60cm black carpeted MDF to support the amp.

I scratched it a little bit but no big deal, I just did not have the right hole saw drill bit. I wont scratch the passenger side one ;)
