In addition to the KKB award recently given to the Maverick, Car&Driver magazine has included the Maverick in its "Best10 Trucks and SUVs for 2024". Only 2 trucks this year amid a sea of SUVs. I didn't search for previous year C&D Best10 lists, but I seem to remember it also won in 2022 and 2023.

No ground-breaking info in either article, but its nice to see the Maverick still shines in the auto marketplace...as we all know. It will be interesting to see what changes are make to the Maverick in the years ahead as other similar competitors come to market.

Here's a link to the overall article that has provides all the winners - both cars and SUVs/Trucks.

Here's a link to a very short article on the Maverick:

Enjoy...

After owning one for almost 2 years it has been a great purchase. It does 99% of everything truck related we need it to all while having a reasonably roomy cab and a smooth ride.

I was driving my wife to an appointment today and she was just totally in awe of how quiet it was running. I said wait a second and the engine will kick on. She said, if the engine isn't running how are we moving? She forgets about the electric side of this truck.

Agreed. My assessment is that it is exactly what it is supposed to be, and is a good value at all trim price points.

Good to see when an article gets the gist of what the Maverick is/supposed to be correct. There's far too many online hack sites which point to what they call "problems" or flaws with the Maverick, but they aren't either addressing the matter from reality or the fact that it's not in competition with mid & full sized trucks, nor was ever meant to be.

I'm not sure that I would put any weight on a C/D Best Vehicle award, given the number of very bad vehicles that they have given that to. E.g. the Vega, the Renault Alliance, the last-gen Thunderbird, Cadillac Catera, Ford Merkur and the Mustang II. They also have no clue about rightsizing or gas mileage, and repeatedly gave the award to the RAM with a hood so high that you can't even see the car in front of you, is unnecessarily loud from both its poor muffler and its bad drivetrain noise and gets stupidly low mpg.
Similarly, the KBB award is ultimately about best resale value, not good vehicles.

EXACTLY. I quit reading C and D many years ago. Also got tired of the half million dollar European crap that they drool over.

Give me a break...... C&D has been around for over 65 years and in that time there are bound to be some mistakes or bad calls especially in hindsight. Nobody said they are the end all be all when it comes to vehicles it's just cool to see the Mav get recognized.

Two years in January for me, and even though there are more Mavs in the wild, I still get people in awe of it when I'm out shopping. It's been such a terrific machine.

My dad doesn't even know the maverick has auto start/stop after a year of driving it, that's how smooth it is. Compare that to something like a Chrysler Pacifica rental, where the start/stop was so bad, it would shake the entire vehicle 😆.

If we get past all the "The Maverick is God's Gift to Humanity" and the "The Maverick is a POS" hyperbole, we can possibly arrive at "The Maverick is an affordable, utilitarian and unobjectionably styled trucklike transportation appliance for the masses".

These days, that's apparently enough to be a C&D ten best.
