Well hello Maverick community! First post here, although I'm extremely active over on the sister forum, Bronco6G.

I'm a regular viewer of the Tuesday live streams that @fordvideoguy and @Sarah Davis do... and I've been told you too have lost the keyless entry keypad option on your Mavericks. I put this video together primarily for the Bronco community, but I'd figured some of you may find this helpful—the steps are identical on the Maverick and most of Ford's other vehicles.

Keypads can be purchased from your dealer's parts counter or HERE on Ford Accessories.

Ford Maverick [How-To] Install & Program a Keypad for your Maverick 1710343656038-tf-

Note that you will need FDRS in order to complete the steps, and because of that, for most people it will be more economical to simply have your dealer do it. But in case you wanted to tackle it yourself, or if you just wanted to see what the dealer actually does... now you have all the info.

Cheers!

Too bad it can't be programmed through Forscan. I think, considering the cost and the few times I'd probably use it, I'd pass on buying FRDS and have the dealer do it (and I have a good friend there who can sweet-talk the mechanics into it).

Yup, I suspect most folks would agree—not worth the upfront cost unless you have a lot of Ford vehicles or a lot of stuff to do in FDRS

For those who haven't bought one yet, make sure you select "Include Installation" when you go to order it. The install cost is $24 when ordered through Ford Accessories.

If you pay for installation outside of Ford Accessories, most dealers would charge you the standard 1 hour labor... which in my area ranges from $80-$150. So you can save a fair amount of money if you buy through Ford Accessories.

With it being wireless, how long will the battery last and is it replaceable or would you need a new keypad? I never would have thought I would used the keypad on my 23, but I used it all the time. Now that I switch to a 24 I don't have one. :(

Battery is good for 5 years and is not user replaceable. Some have pried them open and replaced the battery, others have broken them doing this.

You use to be able to program them yourself with just two working ignition key fobs. Those days are long gone.

I can't understand removing an inexpensive feature that so many users love...it's crazy!

I worked for a company with a fleet of Ford Rangers: they all had the keypad and they all had the same keycode...since we frequently changed vehicles overnight, it made it simple to simply input the code, locate the keyfob secreted in the cab, and on the road again. I'd looked forward to having one when I placed the first order for a '23 XLT (which never made the build list) and then they dropped the option. Grrr

I have had many Fords and always used the keypad as it was nice if you took the kids to the lake or waterpark and everybody went swimming you could just lock everything in the car and unlock it with the keypad when it was time to leave. The stick on key pad is just a glorified remote. It is almost impossible to change the battery and looks like what it is, an after thought and a way to cheapen the build.

It wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't so fugly. They haven't changed the looks in years.

Just a FYI on the $24 installation charge. I talked to three dealers in my area and asked them to confirm the install charge if purchased on the Ford accessories site. All three said they would not honor that price as it only applies to participating dealers. Two dealers said they would charge their full hourly rate ($260-$275) even though it takes less than 15 minutes. The third said they would charge a flat rate of $150. I’m not saying this is the case everywhere, but I would suggest you contact your dealer to confirm their price before ordering the keypad.

How hard is it to remove? I'd requested my dealer program it but not install it. When I picked up the truck it had already been mounted but I'd like to move it to the lower ds of the rear window.

When I say it's been ugly for years. Here's one I never used that I found cleaning the garage today from 2011... Still ugly.

Well that's disappointing to know I have to shell out $250-$400 5 years from now to get my keypad back. I wonder if this is something a good locksmith can do? The whole, "job takes 5 min but I'm charging an hour" irks me. There's a youtube video where the guy planted cameras in his car for a keyfob replacement. The car sat idle for most of the 4 hours the dealer said it needed the car for.

Wouldn't the fumes from the gas tank make putting the remote inside the fuel door a bad idea?
