Anything different about your hood struts that would prevent the hood latch getting stuck?

I’m ordering. It would have been great if Mabett had thought to include a tailgate tie down to replace the one that has to be removed as not to interference with the tailgate strut when closing.

The market is so flooded with these. I went with Old faithful, Dee-Zee brand the OG tailgate damper.

No interest in the hood struts as I've saw they put too much stress on the hood release cable, causing it to come loose near the release handle. I'll stick with the hood prop.

Someone posted a while back that these would work with a tailgate strut.

Seems nice to get them both in one package, at a reasonable price as well.

I don't see how that is possible. They aren't opening the hood any more than you would without them, and they do not put any "stress" on any part that would be near the release cable?

Unless I am missing something, this seems like a non-issue.

It's the system that FORD uses in these setups. There are spring attachments to help the hood pop open normally. Not sure too much about the stress on the cable or internals of the release latch, but due to the way it needs to pop up and then be released a 2nd time, sometimes the struts don't allow for that. Here is the spring setup:

I've also avoided the struts for this reason. But I really want some. At least there are tons of options. No reason to overspend here for the $100+ setups. I think most do report not having issues with the struts, but there have been enough reports of the issues here and there for at least a word of caution.

The YouTube video I watched of the gentleman installing them stated the two struts put too much pressure on the release cable when being pulled on twice to let the hood open, that occasionally the cable connection pops out inside the cab behind the handle. He demonstrated it more than once, which the cable end did pop out.

I think it's a a nice option to have the struts but just knowing there's the possibility of running into the issue makes me not want them.

On my 2014 equinox it only has one strut to hold the hood up not two. I could see where two might cause an issue, I don't know I'm not an engineer.

Do like Mabett stuff. Have many on my ‘24.

Just a tiny bugged, “tailgate lift” has no affect on actually “lifting” the tailgate. 🤭🫣

It’s a tailgate damper.

You can buy a tie down that works. I found on Amazon a D-ring that works in that spot.

I started having problems with my hood struts until I installed the spring on my hood. Problem solved.

Thank you for the reminder. I have corrected my description.
