Hey all, long time listener, first time caller...

Been wanting a Maverick for awhile, and I'm planning on trying to get in on the order banks opening in July. I know there's quite a few threads that talk about the process from a procedure standpoint, but I was curious if anyone had any general tips. Things like "I wish I'd known this.." or "I got them to do this and it worked great..".. Also wondering how folks are handling dealer add-ons. Something in writing before hand, don't do this or you're screwed, etc. Not trying to get a lesson in car buying 101, but I've never order a vehicle before and I know the Maverick has some specific pitfalls. Thanks in advance.

Not all dealers accept X-Plan so verify with yours that they do. It can save you a few hundred bucks. Note: you are supposed to be a member of an organization that gives you X-Plan eligibility for 6 months prior to taking delivery of your vehicle. If your vehicle is already built, that ship most likely sailed. If your dealer accepts X-Plan, might as well sign up for Mustang Club of America now.

One additional piece of advice: don't buy any parts or add-ons from the dealer. You can buy them from legit Ford dealerships' parts depts all around the country for a much bigger discount than Ford or local dealers usually offer in person, even with the cost of shipping. I have been doing this for years. My local dealer has most parts 35% off online but they won't offer that price in-store. Just Google the part number and shop around. Even if it's a part you're not comfortable installing yourself, you can still have your local dealer do it for just the cost of labor.

Go to a dealer who knows what they are doing and has a good reputation.

Anything you can get later like bed covers or mud flaps don't order with the truck it can delay your build.

Research your Dealers in your area. Picking a Good dealer can save you lots of grief. You may have to travel a little further than the one a few minutes down the road. Get itemized agreements signed by dealer management and yourself. Stay in contact often throughout the process, either face to face or email/phone. Order it the way YOU want, yes some options may take a little longer to get scheduled but years later you won't kick yourself saying "I wish I had". I agree with others, stuff you can add later like bed covers, mats, mud flaps Don't order from factory. I would suggest ordering a package that Includes the Trailer Hitch !!! Just my thoughts and opinions.... Good Luck !!!!

And continue to read the posts here on Maverick Truck Club (MTC). Nearly everything I know about ordering a Maverick came from our friends here. When the order banks opened back in September for the 2023 MY, my salesman didn't even have copies of the Order Guide and Pricelist. So I sent him copies of those PDF's that were posted that morning on MTC.

Now I expect to take delivery of my XL Hybrid early next week . . . and it's even coming with a factory installed Hitch! I don't know if it's related, but try to become educated on the process and try to make life easier for your salesperson.

Try to find a dealer with a dedicated internet sales manager that keeps up on all the twisty little passages that Ford throws at the dealers. X Plan or Farm Bureau discount helps a bit. Don't order anything that can be added later (spray in bed liner for example). I'd go ahead and order the trailer hitch package (or 4K tow if buying an AWD Ecoboost). Don't order a Maverick if you need a vehicle soon. Order it and be happy if you get one inside of a year wait. Just say no (hell no!) to all the stupid dealer add-ons like ceramic coating, needless undercoating, window etching, nitrogen tire fill, dent warranty plans, etc. If an extended warranty is something you're interested in, buy it later from one of the discount dealers that sells them barely above cost. Stay tough when it's time to talk to the dealer finance manager -- no matter how fairly you think you've been treated, it's their job to try to separate you from some more money. Bring your own financing if possible to at least give them a number to match or beat.
