To make a long story short, I ordered my truck and based on what I am reading on here as well as other Forums, I am beginning to get a bit anxious on when I will receive the build confirmation email, and when I would even see my truck. My current car is nearing the end of it's life and I am starting to rethink the direction that I want to go when getting a new car.

I have been looking at Chevy Colorados for a variety of reasons, and one of them being I could go to the dealer today and drive it off the lot while paying relatively close to the same as what I would for the Maverick amongst multiple other reasons.

I live an extremely active lifestyle from surfing to mountain biking, to climbing/camping so I will be getting a mid size truck regardless of the direction I am going to go in.

I am starting to lose hope in my Maverick and I just wanted to know if anyone else out there has been going through a similar thought process as I am.

Interested to see what people have to say, since after all everyone on the internet is an expert when it comes to everything ;)

It's your money, spend it where and how you want.

I waited 7 months for my Maverick, and I love it. But I'm sure I would've loved the Colorado/Canyon or Frontier ('19-'21) that I was looking at before the Maverick was officially announced. You just need to figure out if you want to wait any longer. Good luck either way!

You should go. Really. Ford won't notice, because your production slot will be sold regardless. And your dealership will be delighted as they are going to make more money. And the person who buys your Maverick, will be ecstatic, even though they paid a huge mark up. And you will be happy because you settled for something else and overpay for it. But at least you don't have to wait any more.

And maybe this is all easy for me to say since I have mine. I probably would feel different if I was in your shoes. I do have empathy. But I just wouldn't give up now if you really want a Maverick. You're closer than you ever have been.

Thank you! I appreciate the insight. Stoked that you love your Maverick. Saw one parked at the trail head I was riding at here in San Diego yesterday and I felt like it was taunting me :ROFLMAO:

Yeah that is exactly where I am at right now. I mostly wanted to get feedback from others to weigh in my head so I really appreciate the response!

I feel ya. Ordered 7 months ago because my work trucks are aging out. I'd been holding off for years because everything available was too big and too expensive. I really didn't want to shell out 40k for a truck that wouldn't meet my particular needs. Hunted the used listings for a long time but those prices were crazy for what was being offered. Was just settling on the idea of a Frontier when the Mav was announced. It was perfect. Small, efficient, cheap. Perfect for my business applications. One of my Rangers finally gave up the ghost completely a couple months after ordering the Mav. My backup is holding out but not cheaply. Just had to sink another grand into it in the last two weeks to keep it reliable since I don't even have a build date yet. Maverick is too perfect though so I'm waiting it out. It'll be well worth it in the long run. I understand your frustration though.

That's interesting. How close is "relatively close"? I rented a Chevy Colorado last year and liked it.

Three cards on the table...

1. Good (quality)
2. Cheap (or at least not overpriced)
3. Fast (availability)

You can pick any two, but the third one is definitely left behind with whatever you decide.

I waited nearly 6 months for mine and was determined to buy even if just to flip it after letting my 16yo learn and move up to something else (he liked the Ranger Tremor). The wife gave me a hard time about it and so in spite I let it go when it arrived, and now wish I had bought it and flipped it for a few $$$ over my A plan discount. My XLT Lux FX4 was gone 10 minutes after I passed on it. My son-in-law got his 2 weeks ago and they are selling for up to $10k over sticker now.

I have a 2012 Chevy Colorado with 126,000 miles and it has been a great vehicle. All I have done to it is replaced the tires at about 85,000, new battery at about 95,000, and just replaced the fuel pump. The reason I am getting the Maverick is the mpg and the fact that I have never had a vehicle this long and with this many miles. I like the look of the current Colorado more than mine. If money isn’t an issue, I would spend a bit more and go for it. Best of luck either way.

Your money your decision, like when I originally wanted to get a hybrid I needed a vehicle then unable to order/wait so I bought an ecoboost someone ordered but didn’t pick it up. However in October when I bought it there wasn’t anything close to price apple’s to apple’s comparison so I’m guessing they really are discounting the Colorado/Canyon you’re interested in? Good luck on your choice. (Base price maverick is 4 door crew cab hybrid w/awesome fuel economy @ $20k and turbo charged awd crew cab under $25k)

Base price of a Colorado is $25,500.
Yes, and that's for the extended cab (not a 4 door crew cab) without cruise control, remote keyless entry, or any advanced safety features. The crew-cab base WT model comparable to the Maverick XL would be at least $28,000, and over $31k for the mid-tier LT model.

So these generally run $9-10k more than a Maverick.
