Just use XM via your phone and bluetooth.
I’ve been trying xm thru CarPlay from my iPhone. To say it sucks is an understatement. I have to literally unplug my phone and try again 50% of the time, and reboot the Radio, 40% of the time. The radio is a piece of garbage in the XLT and the dealer tells me, there’s not a problem.

Using XM on your phone with Bluetooth is fine as long as you have service. This whole issue is like going back in time. It makes no sense in todays tech world. And I don’t understand half of it to be honest.
You have to pay for service regardless of how you "stream" it. If your truck had "on board" XM you still need to pay for it.

Then don't use CarPlay. Just stream using Bluetooth,

I asked my dealer why they don't put XM in trim levels lower than the Lariat and was told there's a chip shortage, etc. I feel this is a BS answer, because Toyota, Hyundai, Chevy, etc., all come XM ready. At least make it a stand-alone option, for God's sake! Anyway, XM is one of the reasons I ordered a Lariat.

And for those saying just stream it through your phone, that's great if you always have perfect cell reception. I don't.

As for the kits shown above, I'd rather have it built into my stock radio than have to add the clutter of a bunch of modules and wires.

This is one of the so far minor irritations I have about this vehicle. Another being the lack of a manual sliding rear window option for the 2024 and the ugly ass interior color on the standard Lariat (had to get BAP to get rid of that).
Sounds like the Maverick isn't for you.

You can get external CD players that plug in via USB.
I have one too, they're not expensive, plug in the USB and you're good to go!!

It is a bit disheartening about the radio. As an old dude (57) , I have tons of CD's and would loved to have played them in the Maverick! I have the XM on my phone and use that for listening to tunes. Maybe, someone will make an aftermarket CD player to install, one day . Crutchfield offers none, and doesn't recommend replacing the stock radio .😔
I LOVE my CDs. I am very disappointed that there is no CD player in my Maverick.

A lot of portable CD players don't interface with the Maverick bluetooth. I know this because I bought a couple that didn't work.

This is the only thing I found that works using an FM radio interface. Not the best, but better than nothing. Fortunately, it also works on my boat.

Pretty ignorant statement considering XM is offered in the Lariat and I ordered a Lariat.
I wasn't referring to the radio. I was referring to your dissatisfaction with the critical sliding rear window and the "ugly ass interior color". Still sounds like the Mav isn't for you.

Again, the sliding rear window is standard on the Lariat and the ugly ass interior is avoided with the BAP. Both of which I ordered. It annoys me that I had to spend and extra $1600 for a normal interior color that takes Ford absolutely nothing extra to produce, but it's still a good deal compared to $70k full size trucks.

Ignorance is bliss in your case though.

I ordered a 24 Maverick XLT, FX4 and 4K towing back in July. I just realized it only has a Am Fm radio. No other option for satellite radio. Who in gods name made this decision at ford. I don’t understand why?
For years I have enjoyed XM radio in many vehicles using XM's magnetic antenna & their portable car radios. It is easy to "hide" the wires and play the XM radio thru a cars existing FM radio. Also it is possible to use the same portable XM radio in one's house and save the expense of having to pay for 2 radios.

Looking at the radio controls when I first got mine. It sure looked like a cd slot was there. Went months thinking that. Have not used cds though in many years.
Still not sure what some of those controls do without a cd. Like ff.

Yes but if another family member has it you only need to pay for one.

Same things they'd do for a car with CD player but for Bluetooth audio, USB, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, etc. They also scan the prev/next station on radio and, where equipped, SXM.
