XL Tailgate Only Key

I search the threads on keys and only came up with posts about making an FOB key copy.
I'd like to make a key to use just on the tailgate of my XL. Do not need or want the FOB part.
Note I did get 2 FOB keys, but want a key for just locking and unlocking the tailgate when the FOB key is still in the ignition. Rather not carry 2 FOBs.
I looked up a local locksmith but they wanted $200. Just want a simple key cut. Has anyone been successful with this and where did you get the key cut?

$200!! Wow, might be better to research adding the power lock option.

I was quoted $50 to cut just a key from a pop-up locksmith in Sam's parking lot.
I would vote for installing a power lock

I was looking at the power lock route. The wiring harness plus actuator runs about $180.
Looks like a key can be laser cut using just a photo. Who knew?
Might be the cheapest option if it works.

I used this vendor a year ago to get a key made for my 2022 XL using a photo or two:

I see the price is still $10 but what was free shipping in 2024 is now $15.
This gets you the key blade only, no electronics.
I lock my fob in the truck when I go sailing and keep the blade in the pocket of my swimsuit.

Took me about 30 minutes to install the actuator and wiring on the XL I had. Hardest thing was getting to the connection that is basically under the spare tire.
