Hi. New maverick owner here. Like a lot of the US we had some bad snow/freezing temps here. Cleared off the truck before going out but a chunk of frozen gunk developed between the wiper and the well, prohibiting it from making the full sweep. Pulled over when i was able and cleared out the well again, but now the wipers don't return to off position* like they used to.

Is this something i can fix/reset?

thanks in advance for any help

* there's the off position of the blades when you're running intermittent wipers and then they go all the way into the well when the wiper selector is in the off position.

Take in to the dealer. Either a plastic cam broke or the arm skipped a tooth on the shaft. Either way, its probably going to need parts and the big question is "will it be covered by warranty?"

I had this happen on my Ranger after having the windshield replaced.. I could push them down into position but they would come out again as soon as I turned the key on. I think it relearned its positions after disconnecting the battery, you might want to research if there is a process for that.

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

I think the same thing happened to mines the other day. I didn’t do anything other than clear the snow off the windscreen. So, isn’t it annoying that we can’t put the wipers up overnight when we’re expecting snow?

Same thing happened to mine this week. Once the temperature got above freezing (about five days - that's a long time around here), the next time I drove they reset properly. I didn't have to do anything special.

Can you post a picture of what you are talking about?

I had the same issue. Try bringing it into a warm garage and let it thaw out. Worked for me.;)

The right wiper never goes down all the way theres a mark on the outside windshield frame or on the glass where the wiper should sit someone showed me.
As for putting the wipers up in bad weather when parked cant say how many windshield's I replaced when wipers come slamming down on a cold windshield when working at dealer, make sure you put them down gently.

Had the same issue with my hybrid. It was ice buildup from snow that hadn't been completely cleared from the wiper well. Especially around the bases of the wiper arms. I think the hybrid might be more prone to this since the engine isn't always running and heating up the hood to melt it. Wipers returned to their normal positions once I was finally able to chisel out the blocks of ice stuck in there. Next time we get snow I'll make sure to clear this area really well and also run in max defrost untill the windshield is completely clear.

The passenger side blade does not go all the way down. If you look at any picture of a Mav (not a professional marketing picture) or drop by a dealership and look at a new Mav, you will see.
