i have seen multiple people respond that when the maverick is off, the wiper arm will freely slide up so the arm can be tilted out. Can someone verify this is true?
Yes, this is true. Easy to move into position by hand for servicing or to avoid freezing to the windshield.

First I'm hearing of that one. My Accord doesn't require that.
My Honda Ridgeline does. If you don’t turn it off when the wiper is where you want it, it is identical to the Maverick and you can’t raise the wiper.

They will move but it's advised against from Ford

Either turn the truck on, turn wipers on, turn truck off before they go down

or gently rotate them up by hand with the truck off.

Then lift the arms up for servicing.
Pretty sure ford specifically said not to move them manually. Which everyone will do anyway.

Guess I will find out. Zero resistance when you move 'em, wonder if the concern is not putting them back in the "parked" position before operating them?

Thanks for the info @Portcqb ! Probably would have been good info in the owners manual

See the post above you. I don't recommend manually moving them. Previous gen Escape and Focus had no issues moving them manually, but that seems to be a bad idea on current Escape, Maverick, Bronco Sport.

I keep seeing this mentioned here, this is not a “fail” this is a standard design for aerodynamics, many new models are as such. My 2019 Audi is the same way. Really not an issue.
Not for you, living in snow climates this blows. I need to turn my vehicle on then of mid swipe to clean it off or scrape the windshield?

Why is that a fail? Do they wipe the windows? Yes. Works for me.

Just pointing out that by human nature people are going to move them manually.
