Does the hood pinch the cord at all or is there enough of a gap?Block heater short extension cord Vers 2.0. Made it so I could plug in a charger too. It's zip tied to the steel bracket forward of the power block:

I wrapped the charger in inner tube rubber, just lay it in the front LH corner. It's not going anywhere, and if it did bounce around a little, not going to hurt anything (I'm not going offroading). This Battery Tender 3A charger will give the battery a boost when the block heater is plugged in:

Not too offensive - note Ford Blue cord, just tied to the grill:

Hi. Yes, there is enough of a gap that the electrical cord isn't pinched tight, and it can move around a bit. No sign of chafing either, so seems to be working out well. Real full on winter weather here, lots of snow, slippery streets - the Maverick is turning out to be an excellent winter wagon (so far).Does the hood pinch the cord at all or is there enough of a gap?
You should be able to order it from Ford. Looks like an easy install, but gotta drain coolant etc. The pic I saw online showed it being thread in. I'd go out and confirm that but blizzarding outside ATM.I would like to add an engine block heater. How difficult? Can I order the part off the shelf?
Amazing pic! I love it.Full on blizzarding out here this morning in Winterpeg, lots of highways closed. Lots of drifting from high winds, and usually no snow clearing happening until the storm has passed. Had to go out, drop the wife off - roads are terrible. Helluva test of the AWD system. Two thumbs up IMO. I've really been impressed how the Maverick handles winter driving conditions.

We've had lots of snow so far this winter, and heavy drifting in the country is normal:

I got one of these for Christmas a few years ago, but never used it. The giver took it back! Now it looks like I need one lolHere's one solution to the problem of snow accumulation at the base of the windshield. Sure is a PITA scooping snow outta there, to clear around the wipers. The wife bought one of these windshield covers at Costco for her Corolla. Fits both her car, and the Maverick too. Works so well, went back and bought another! This overlaps the trailing edge of the hood several inches covering up that trough.

MUCH less windshield scraping.I got one of these for Christmas a few years ago, but never used it. The giver took it back! Now it looks like I need one lol
I like what you did. Do you have a link for that little extension cord ? Thank You.Dunno why they thought it was a good idea to have the block heater plug located under hood? I made a short extension cord so I can keep the hood closed, just plug in up front. I tied it to the grill with some heavy string/cord. I couldn't find anywhere up front there around the headlight/grill area to route a cord thru. Looks fugly - don't care. Functionality over looks when it gets really cold. That cord has remained flexible down to -20C (coldest it's gotten so far this winter). If anyone has a tidier solution, would love to see it.

Hi nunucello. I just shortened up an extension cord that I had kicking around. I'm 2nd winter into ownership ATM, have had the Maverick 14 months now, still all good, zero issues. Excellent winter wagon - LOVE that AWD system.I like what you did. Do you have a link for that little extension cord ? Thank You.
Awesome ! Thank You. I look for a flat type of extension cord so I can also close my hook.Hi nunucello. I just shortened up an extension cord that I had kicking around.
