Not that big of a deal but I picked up my maverick a couple weeks ago and when the wipers are off they are still visible through the windshield. it seems like they should retract lower out of my line of sight, has anyone else noticed this?

Yep. Noticed it from day one. Hate it. Also notice if you look at the right windshield wiper it's too long so it will never disappear. If they just made it two inches shorter I think they could have made those wipers go down more.

Mine sit above the hood line when turned on and resting in the downward position, but they retract farther down when turned completely off. Even seemingly minor snow/ice buildup can also prevent them from fully retracting.

On one of my previous vehicles it was possible to remove and re-seat the entire wiper arm on the "turning mechanism," whatever you'd call that! haha

Mine too. It appears that the passenger wiper does not return to a proper home position. Nearly time for my first oil change. Will have them look at it.

You have to remove the wiper arm and re-install it a couple notches lower.

Thanks Milous. That’s what I figured, but I’m going to let them have a crack at it first.

You can't do that on the passenger side because the wiper will hit the cowling. You can get a shorter wiper and make it work but the windshield camera will not wipe clean and you will get an camera fault warning.

There is a position mark on the windshield where the wipers are supposed to be when they're parked. The marks aren't easy to see but they are there.
There's there's one on the passenger side pictured and there's one in the center for the driver's wiper. I had to move my wipers out of the way in order to take the picture.
When the wipers are properly positioned, they are Not hidden wipers.

?? You don't need a shorter wiper, you just need to align the wiper near the mark as noted by Glen Baker. Worked perfect for me.

I think your missing the point I'm trying to make. If you want to hide the passenger wiper from view by indexing the arm down then you need to buy a short wiper. If you buy a shorter wiper it won't clean the glass in front of the camera so you can get the occasional camera obstructed warning in bad weather.

Dave,
If you install a shorter blade, it will still park in the same position. Still showing, but not as much.
If you want Hidden wipers you would have to actually pull the arm off of the spindle and move it down a notch reinstalling it.
I'm thinking moving the wiper arm down a notch on the spindle also may keep it from sweeping across the camera lens and not cleaning it. That could be a problem in foul weather.

I did index the wipers down so both wipers are hidden. To move the passenger one down requires a shorter wipers because it will contact the cowl. I used a 19" and it clears but the wiper is to short and doesn't wiper the camera area. It misses by about a half inch. The travel is fine and makes it to the camera. I plan on trying g a 20" blade which should work.

The 19" reaches to this point.

Can you just replace it with a shorter blade?

It will still be sticking up higher above the black bar of the windshield.

You'll notice next time you look at it.
Bring a ruler - notice how much shorter you'd have to get it to be below the black bar without any adjustments.

That would look hilarious in use actually - please get such a wiper and take a video!
