I live in the deep South so bugs are just a thing. I use the bug removal Rain-X windshield fluid. It doesn't prevent bugs, but it does help keep it cleaner once you hit them.

I can't say I hit more bugs than usual but I haven't had a sedan since I got rid of my Neon in 2005.

This is the strangest thing, it seems like i notice the windshield getting cluttered up more than my previous vehicle which was a camry. I know its car vs truck but i have pretty much resorted into keeping windex and microfiber in the truck to use weekly.

I have rain-x on it which works great in the rain, however the washer and wipers do little to remove bug guts from the windshield, microfiber is amazing though.

Is this my life now? is there a better solution?
What's the last thing that goes through a bugs mind when it hits your windshield head on? It's ass, lol

Yeses! I owned a Ford Edge for 13 yrs and never had such a mess of a windshield.. I suspected something had changed or else more bird crap and bugs in the world I have 2025 Mav since January and now notice a couple of very small hood chips too. I feel the paint is very thin.

I solved that by adding this, which unfortunately was discontinued.
Rarely have anything hit my windshield anymore.

They quit selling this one with the bump that deflects wind. There's an old thread about it on here.

That’s just tacky IMO, I’d like something a little more ‘classy’.
I'd only use it for a long road trip, which from here start going through fields no matter what direction - and much increased level of bugs day or night right time of year.

Any of the options that hide behind the front facia no longer make it easy to remove & clean, or in this case, trip done just remove to clean and store for next one.

No versions small enough either, so I'll see how it stretches & blocks the long way around.
At least for rocks on windshield - can somewhat attempt a good following distance.

I hear ya ‘Hey’. I’ve always had the mesh screen ones that were so easy to install behind my previous vehicles grilles, but the Mav is totally different. And I don’t feel like removing all that stuff just for that! Maybe in the next year or so some company will make an easy install one, not going to hold my breath.

I've had very few bugs hit the windshield since I installed my Mabett's bug deflector

Yea . use to have net style bug preventer that would install over front of vehicles to keep radiator and air conditioner vent clear of bug guts . Here in Florida we have love bugs season twice a year (fall and spring ) . There guts stuff is acidic and destructive to metal and paint . Just saying .

It could be worse - had a 97 Dodge Ram 4 x 4 Sport that was a bird magnet ... Much bigger mess than bugs, believe me. As far as the Mav goes Rainx as a deterrent and a used dryer sheet to effortlessly take the bugs off, is working fine for me.

Cheers

They lok like SPLAT!
Ok! We have river moths aka shad flies and they come out at night July-August, when they’re ‘breeding’, make a mess of the windshield, that’s why I don’t drive at night then. Mind you, fly fishing is awesome that time of year.

Try cleaning your windshield, if you have to, buff out any minerals with some 0000 steel wool. Clean and dry again. Once it is perfectly clean and dry, ceramic coat it. I used nexgen to do my entire truck, paint, plastic, trim and glass. I still get bugs on my windshield but they clean off super, most of the time with just the wipers.
i've used 0000 steel wool, then applied the rain-x 2-in-1 spray thing. i used their cermix and honestly just hazed the window up real bad.
