Will Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat fade?

I had a laser red 2001 mustang gt years ago and it eventually faded into more like laser pink over the years.. Would Ruby red fade? Would hate to eventually be driving a ruby pink Maverick if I decide to go with that color.

I had two previous Ruby Red Fords. (also Rapid Red, etc.) No problems with fading.

I have always liked Red cars, and Trucks, (HPR Maverick) Red Tbird, last truck 2005 Red Canyon, Red PT Cruiser red Jaguar, 2 red 1962 Galaxies, and 12 other red vehicles I remember. ALL WILL TURN PINK if you leave them in the sun long enough!

It also depends on how you treat your car. If it goes through automatic car wash with stronger car soap, it might deteriorate paint a little faster - at least how I view it.

My 2014 Mazda CX-5 (red) that rarely goes through automatic car washes and been parked outside 90% of it's life still holding up. But I guess that's a Mazda and not Ford, though I've seen other red Mazda fail much sooner - so to me it depends on how well you care for your car.

All Paints fade. Reds are the worst. It's usually not apparent until you dead shot repaint a panel without a blend. Get the color you want. Ceramic coat the thing and enjoy it.

My dark red F-150 eventually turned a reddish-purple, after 22 years of being out in the sun all that time.

The headlights also eventually hazed over so badly that instead of driving with headlights, it was more like driving with 2 regular light bulbs attached to the front of the truck. No focused light at all.

Thankfully, replacement headlight assemblies were cheap - only $50 a pair, and that included the Halogen bulbs! Headlight assemblies on the Maverick are well over $1,000 each.

Funny you say that. My laser red 01 mustang gt was totaled when I was rear ended. Also had a red Toyota Corolla that was backed into and also rear ended.

I had 13 Lariat parked outside in North Florida for the 8 years I had it. I kept it washed every couple of weeks + a spray & wax 3-4 times a year. I thought it held up quite well.
Thought about it on my ordered 25 Maverick Lariat Hybrid, but to me the truffle interior goes better with the Azure Gray.

I was thinking of Ruby Red as well but you are right, the blue and truffle interior just doesn't look right with red and really Eruption Green as well. I ended up going with Space White Metallic.

Had a 2010 Ford Edge in bright red. Bought used in 2012, traded for a 2015 (used) in 2016. Red was still fine when traded.

Was your 2001 clear coated paint? That is supposed to prevent UV fading of the paint. I had a 2011 Ranger that was clear coated red and when I traded for my 2024, the red was unchanged from new.
