Will possible ability to change drive trains affect current Tremor orders?

As Maverstang posted in the thread on the new Ford announcement about possibly allowing switches of drive trains for Mavericks on order-

"Well at least we have some clarity.
- Only 46% of Hybrid orders will get built
- Only 57.7% of XL orders will get built
- There are no significant package commodity restrictions
- Everything is back to the old days where commodity plan and allocations rule
It’s all down to your place in line at the dealer. If you’re near the front and they have allocations, you’re chances are good. If not…
With the revelation in package availability, I just hope everyone doesn’t pile on the commodities to create a new problem. "

I don't know about clarity (this is Ford), but this raises an issue for current, unscheduled Tremor orders.

Ford said only 2% of orders were for Tremors but Ford has a capacity for 10% of orders. That meant that while it may take awhile, it was very likely almost all current Tremor orders would have been built.

But if people now switch to to Tremor as it is not now constrained, the likelihood of current Tremor order being filled decreases. And if done by dealer date order, as Tremors could not be placed for the first several days due to ordering problems, Tremor orders are necessarily down the dealer date order. Another hit for current Tremor orders.

But as in all things Maverick, who knows how it will pan out.

I’m leaving my damn order alone. They can’t even sort current orders chronologically. I will get my bedliner and rail afterwards. I’m few weeks shy of being a whole year waiting for a truck.

If Ford is allowing hybrid order-holders to change to EB without losing their overall place in the order queue, then presumably* some will decide to order Tremors. Those orders may in fact get built before some existing Tremor orders. So, to answer your question: yes, it looks like it's possible.

* I don't see a lot of people switching from the most fuel-efficient version of the Maverick to the least fuel-efficient. To be honest, I doubt all that many hybrid order-holders will take Ford up on the offer at all.

That makes sense to me. A guess, but it still sounds right.

Ford would not accept Tremor orders until a few days after order banks opened.

It is not right that someone who was able to order a regular Maverick on Sept 15 would be allowed to now order a Tremor and keep their place in line. That means they will jump ahead of people who had to wait until Sept 18 or 19 to get their Tremor orders in.

My concern is not so much that Hybrid owners would switch to Tremors but Ecoboost orders, especially FX and AWD orders would. Thus FX and AWD orders made before Tremors could jump the line for Tremors even thou "ordered" afterwards.

Thou it is unclear whether the Ford offer just applies to Hybrid orders or also to Ecoboost ones. But as various EB options are listed as undersubscribed, including Tremors, probably would allow.

Fair point.

It's also not right that someone who ordered a Maverick on October 15, 2021 still has no truck, no VIN and no idea if/when the order is going to be built. There is a lot about this process that's not right.

I can tell you one thing. I'm glad I'm not the person at Ford whose job is to sort all this order prioritization business.

Why? They had an order in like everyone else.

Yes if everyone had an equal chance of ordering on day 1. But this did not happen. Ford salespeople could not submit Tremor orders for the first 3 days. So people who ordered even a base XL on Sept 15 can now upgrade to a XLT or Lariat Tremor and jump ahead of the original Tremor orders? No that is not right. Ford needs to give first scheduling to original Tremor order holders.

The announcement about conversions did not state there is any limit. 10% Tremor max capacity can get sucked up just on Sept 15-16 hybrid conversions. So even the very first Tremor order that could be entered by a dealer would now have to go to the back of the line and wait until the 2024MY?

Ford will have a riot on their hands if they allow people just now converting to Tremors to jump ahead of the original Sept 18-20 Tremor orders that could not be submitted due to Ford not being ready to accept those orders.

I went to see my sales lady today. It sounds like I will get one. She says she has other orders who won't. I dont know if that's all mavs or just tremors. She has told me before they got low allotments.

They are first year dealer, the only ford lot for a big dealer. They had just bought the lot when I went looking for a mav in early Jan 2022. I tried to get one that never got built. The lot was basically empty then.

It sounds like its going to be tough. She says their lot is 25% new, 75% used and that's their new normal. It simply is order and wait.

It could be all sales talk, but she's a nice, pretty, young woman and I had free time today. You know, play with my phone, or go to the new ford dealer. She was quick to mention my mav as a trade in.

So far, changes to the body style resets people's order dates, and that's what a change to Tremor is.

I would expect Ford to try to let people to switch to Tremors because it's more profit & margin, but they could also just build them and send them out to dealers.
