Wife Refuses To Drive The Truck

My wife loved driving my '23 Mav Lariat Hybrid - drove it as often as she drove her '24 Escape Platinum Hybrid. Traded the '23 Mav for a '25 Lariat Hybrid AWD with 4K tow package. The day we brought it home I told her I didn't think she would like driving it with the 4K tow package - that it is WAY more like driving a truck than the '23. So far I have continued to reinforce that and she has not yet driven the new Mav. Not sure how long I can keep up this ruse. And she has never driven my '12 Porsche - that one she's afraid to scratch! Had an '09 Porsche that she drove once when we traded it in on the '12 - she almost ran it into a fence!

My wife doesn't like the knob gear shift. The first time she drove it, she had to move it in a hurry and she reached for the shifter and couldn't find it. She likes the standard shift lever in the console. Honestly, I like the lever better myself.

My wife doesn't like to drive my Mav, mostly because he doesn't like the color. I am ok with that. She has managed to drive our car into the SUV and the SUV into another car. I am ok with having a Mint Mav a little while longer.

My wife expects me to not just touch, but to drive her in her Maverick.

Her kitchen and laundry appliances, however, I'm only allowed to touch under two circumstances:
1) I'm installing them, and
2) I'm fixing them.

I'm barely allowed to get something from the refrigerator myself!

She better drive it! It was the reason I bought the Maverick. She refused to drive any other truck because they are too big. We walked by a Maverick one day and I said "Would you drive that one?" She said "Sure, I would drive that." So a Maverick it is.

I will say that in the month I spent waiting for the dealer to find me one, I read a lot about them and now I know we made the right decision. Been driving it for three days and could not be more happier with it so far.

My husband has yet to drive my Maverick and I got it in August. I’m getting an average of 47+ mpg and have just over 1,000 on the new truck.

He didn’t like to drive my 2004 Honda CRV manual transmission car either.

I don’t think it’s a gender thing with your wife. There are some of us who are more into the driving experience and in my marriage, that’s me.

When I was overseas I had to almost beg my Wife to drive my Dodge Ram once in awhile just to keep the battery charged! She didnt drive it very much but backed it into a pole and drove over a loose manhole cover which caused damage to one of the wheels. I ended up buying a new set of wheels for it and replaced the rear bumper with a roll pan. I don’t think I will ever ask her to drive the Mav!!
