Why is my Mav doing this?

Can't say I've heard that particular noise before. I have heard my maverick sound like it's under load when starting but before driving - I thinks it's the engine trying to warm itself up as fast as it can.

I'd check with the more mechanically inclined, but it's my understanding other components can be forcefed heat as well, which may account for strange noises. The exhaust and transmission and connected to the heating system I believe.

My truck used to make that same exact sound in the cold mornings when the ICE kicked in. After a quick drive it quickly disappeared.

I brought it up to the dealership on my last oil change. They didn't tell me if they did anything, but I've noticed it hasn't returned.

Again, it only did it in the morning when it was cold and the ICE kicked in for the first time. It sounded like loose plastic shroud bouncing around and hitting up against something. Hopefully it doesn't return...

Mine makes more noise at 7 mph cold than it does at 70 mph on the hiway. In fact, on the hiway, you can only tell if the ICE is running by looking at the EV Coach screen. Really quiet on the road. I figure if the early racket is really a problem, it would magnify at road speeds.

Just a guess, but it sounds like heat risers rattling, but I thought they got rid of them years ago.

I believe another member had diagnosed this as “tractor mode”.

Mine does the same thing.

Sort of, I seldom hear mine do it as I come out of a garage 95% of the time. Only once has the ICE started instantly. It sat in 17° F for about 7 hours. That puppy fired right up but didn't sound "course"

If it's making the noise all of the time it should be easy to figure it out. If it's intermittent then good luck.

That's normal don't worry about it -Mine does that when it's cold. I think this may be related to the emissions engine retune - vehicle won't hold emissions when run at top speed.... Which in itself is a crazy recall. It seems to be an engine tuning thing... I would take it to the dealer and ask them for a fix. Others have and there is none per-se but I'm sure it will get sorted out at some point. After it warms up it will run normally.
