I have noticed a distain towards any small vehicle, hot sports cars seem exempt,, starting about 20 years ago.

I believe many people think driving a small car means that you are of a lower income class than they are, and they have the bloated vehicle to prove it, leased of course, they’ve probably never owned a vehicle outright in their life.

We have 3 generations of drivers who have never driven a small vehicle and have no idea how much easier, and pleasant and fun they can be to drive, park, etc.

The motto seams to be; I’m bigger than you, so I’m better than you.

Still havent had anyone comment or ask me about my Mav here in Colorado yuppieland, also known as Commiefornia 2. We still have a lot of old conservative farmers around here too though. None of them seem to notice my truck either.

It’s weird, never had a new model vehicle that garnered so little attention. It‘s not even close. My former hot rides I understand, but I always got more attention with even the more mundane vehicles I have owned.

Probably some real benefits to that though.

I suspect that cactus, Area 51, and chili, attract more onlookers just because of the unique colors, but still…

Maybe we need to adopt the motto of another group, who I generally place in the same class as coal rollers;

”It’s a Maverick thing, you wouldn’t understand”

My Tremor is like a celebrity and I get tons of compliments and looks from all ages and both genders. I have yet to see another Tremor since I received mine in January so I’m feeling pretty special!

I live in Houston and out in the country and both places I get nothing but positive feedback.

I take it back. My neighbor down the street has started keeping his habitually dirty Chevy Colorado ZR2 REALLY clean all the time now. I think he has noticed my Mav. Hasn’t acknowledged me yet though.

Interesting, and surprising mostly. Here in the upper Midwest I feel like a mobile zoo exhibit. It has settled down lately but the first year I was either getting tracked down in the parking lot or stopped after getting out. Questions, walk arounds and even peak-ins. Average conversation around 10 minutes. Mostly middle aged men or older. They want the technical details and what Ford named the paint (area 51). My female customers, they all comment on how "pretty" the color is. It cracks me up I just say thanks. So all this time I've been driving around in a pretty truck. Great! I'm too old to care about that anymore. If I ordered another one, i'd stay with the same color.

Feel a little that way in Alabama, had a guy in a late model Landrover follow me to Lowes saying he had a Tremor ordered and that he was on the build list. He wanted one because he thought they were cool, it isn't just people looking for a "cheap" truck. That is part of the reason they are able to sell them with mark ups, people with money are buying these too.

Yeah, it's become somewhat of a fascination. Separate yourself from the popular crowd and you just might garner a bit of attention is how it sometimes goes. But nobody including its maker predicted this much. The supply ratio issues speak for that.

When I bought this one, I was cross shopping with Canyons/Colorados....if I had purchased one of those I would not be on those forums, just wouldn't care enough...not sure what that says other than the Maverick is just more interesting for whatever reason.

lol same. The funny thing is, majority of people on that forum totally got it. Actually was a VERY friendly and good forum with tons of information. The mods there are very knowledgeable and go to great lengths to make sure bad information is not getting spread. I still lurk just for the off topic stuff and waiting for people I interacted with to actually receive their ZR2's... especially the Harvest Bronze Metallic ones

I'm on the Jeep JL forum and, for the most part, they are constructive and helpful. The psychology/sociology of these different forums might make a good thesis project for some student. lol
