Which Tailgate Assist is best?

I really believe I have found the best tail gate assist God ever created. It is my right knee which I very rarely need. I am old as dirt (80) but why in the world would I need a tailgate assist on this truck??. Now my Dodge 2500 may be a different story.

If you have grand kids around the tailgate, and you slip or drop the tailgate it might be a bad day. Just makes it more comfortable and easy.

My last two trucks had a tailgate assist built in so we got used to having them. I may remember that this one is different but, for sure, my wife will not remember, or even know the difference and I think there's a very, very good chance she'd just drop the thing, on herself, get hurt, somehow blame me, and insist that I put an assist on it. I'm just trying to think ahead, be proactive, and mitigate damages.

I went with a cheap Amazon version on my 25 XLT. It's only been a month, but so far so good. Also, you have to remove the bottle opener tie down on that side to clear the piston. But there are several Amazon replacement options for them as well. I didn't care about the bottle openers, so I replaced both so they match.

I went with the Dee-Zee brand as they're the original creators of the tailgate assist. I've had one on each truck since 2012.

You need to realign your mount that installs to the driver side tail light area it should be vertical not slanted outward towards the tailgate like you have it. Just saying...
