Hello Group, the 2025 2.0L I have came with 225 55R 19, I inherited winter tires 225 55R 17's , I plan to just get some steel rims for winter use, Do you see any issue going to 17's ? the drop in height, probably an inch or so doesn't bother me at all, and I'm wondering if doing this will violate any warranty, I think not but just wanted your opinions.

How many miles do you put on during the winter? If you are going to all the trouble of getting steel wheels, I'm not sure what you really end of saving with tires that will have a smaller rolling diameter. If you don't go far, it won't matter too much, but if you will put on a lot of miles, I would just get things right.

Also a good point, I drive the maverick on weekends only, I have a work truck the rest of the time.
I wanted steel rims for the winter tires only because I don't want to keep pulling off the stock tires every change of season, and this way I can swap out the wheels myself.

You need 225/65R17's.....I went from 225/55R19 that came with my Lariat to factory size 225/65R17 snows on Maverick steelies for the winter...no issue at all. Used with a set of Motorcraft TPMS-117 sensors and reset with Motorcraft TMPS19 reset tool. Works like a champ!!

A lot of Bronco Sport wheels on FB Marketplace for sale, perfect fit as well

I had this issue on my 2000 Ranger. The winter tires were 1 inch smaller. It delinitly changed my speedometer reading and racked up the odometer miles faster. I don't know if the Maverick would adjust to that difference.

Some of the independent tire places that deal in part worn tires will give you a small trade in allowance on the 225/55/17 tires if they are decent and typical prices for a 225/65R17 snow tire that has 8/32 on it or better are about $90 CDN a tire, plus $40 fitting. They often have cheapo brands for 5 or 600 a set, I think I'd rather stick with name brand part worns though. The Kenny U Pulls have tire sales where you can buy loose tires or sets, the one by me doesn't fit them though, have to take it to "your guy"

Best value I've found in a known manufacturer 225/65R17 new tire is the Uniroyal Tiger Paw 4 from blackcircles.ca ordered them for my wife's Escape to get new tires for hers. Thus I was also trying to go cheaper than that for mine to keep things in budget, lucked out on a 235/65R17 set with blizzaks on, which is like 1% taller. I would have rather have stayed at 225 I thought, but recent vid with wide vs narrow snow tires made it seem like wider is no problem and better for braking.

Anyway, you're halfway there with the rims, don't be married to the idea that you have to use them though, sometimes deals pop up with decent tires on for cheaper than getting used tires fitted. You can also use a 225/60R18 combo.

It's not so much the wheel diameter, as long as it fits your brakes...more so the total tire diameter based on both the width and sidewall ratio of the tire.

Good posts already here that indicate that's a pretty significant tire diameter change.

This has nothing to do with my original post, but I have to tell someone who is appreciative of this vehicle. The maverick for me is a pleasure vehicle since I have a work truck, so I don't get out with it much, but yesterday went for my first "long" drive, and holy cow was it fun. It drives perfectly, feels great , I couldn't be happier with it. It's the 2.0 Eco, and it has very nice pickup power for over taking on the highway, and it feels like it has power to spare too.

The problem is, now I want to go on a real long drive, LOL.

Any way to adjust the speedometer when you drop tire size? Maybe at dealership? I bought 17's (truck came with 18) snow tires... Tire shop said difference between the 2 would be only .25 mph at 65. NADA... Much greater. at 70 we are talking 2 mph, at 75 3. Really creates havoc when towing my snowmobile trailer. Have GPS map program running on my phone so know the real mph, but it is also screwing up the miles to empty as well. I can get down to 25 mte and gas gauge is still showing well over a quarter of a tank.
