That one guy here would have ordered his 1970 Maverick without reading the fine print and then he would have been angry that there was an up-charge for the white-wall tires! $32!From all the mods I've seen on this site - A lot hasn't really changed from the original Maverick ....
Cheers

Should have been a Ranchero!Where did the name Maverick come from? According to Merriam Webster and historical sources it goes back to the early 19th century when a client gave a South Texas rich lawyer named Samuel A. Maverick some unbranded cattle to settle a debt. Mr. Maverick had no need for them, so just let them roam free unbranded. Later the term began to be used for something free spirit, non-conformer or someone who blazes their own trails. This describes the Ford Maverick – non-conforming trail blazer.
With that in mind, what makes the Maverick different? We all know it is a truck, but a different truck. Just thought I would get your response as to what makes your Maverick different than a Taco, Santa Claus (sorry about that, Santa Cruz), Ranger, Colorado, Frontier, etc. I think we all admit that there is nothing quite like it on the road (even for the few of you do not like it). It indeed is a MAVERICK.
Let me get the ball rolling on what makes it a trail blazing non-conformist.
Your thoughts?
- Pricing and equipment for pricing. Who would have thought within the last few years you would get cruise, power windows, power locks, back-up camera, carpeting, 4 full doors, etc. on a BASE truck for under $25K?
- Fuel economy. Not much needs to be said here, even EB blows away the competition (that’s right, there is no real competition), and the Hybrid leaves it so far behind, you cannot see it in the rear view mirror.
My Grandmother owned a Mercury Comet (aka Ford Maverick) in the early '70s. Got willed to my sister when she passed - and sis drove it as her first car for several years.Same here, only I had the Mercury Comet - same car, but different names. Seems like a lot of us old timers are enjoying our Mavericks. Well, let me re-phrase that. One poster here called us "Advanced Middle Age People." Kinda like that better. Hope you enjoy your Maverick as much as I do mine.
