Cerakote - ceramic trim coat seems to work very well on my Mav’s exterior black plastic.
This☝
CeraKote ceramic paint protection.
Cerakote for plastic trim on all the exterior plastic-y bits.

Over a year later after application and water on the CeraKote-painted surfaces still beads up.

I've tried many things, use to be a strictly McQuires person, but this VPR works great on all vinyl, rubber (great on tires), and plastics. It gives a deep dark black color to everything and lasts a longer time than most.

I use this also on the outside of my car on all the black pieces after I wash my vehicle every month. Even the plastic trim around the windshield wipers that sinks below the back of the hood.

Spray it on a towel, and wipe it where you want it. Except I didn't realize you could it in a gallon and refil the small bottle.

Just wondering what you all use to bring the black back from hitting it with the wax? I want to bring it "Back in Black".

Thanks

lots of good ideas others have posted- you might want to apply some wax to some other piece of plastic laying around and then do some 'testing' on that first.

Bobby,

Buy something designed specifically for black plastic trim, not dressings that treat vinyl, plastic and rubber. For that matter, skip dressings all together and go with Cerakote Trim Restorer, which is sealant.
*Note for other readers, this product is not designed for new trim.

cerakote is magic for black plastic trim. I don't have experience with it obliterating wax that got on the trim, but others say any trim product will remove/hide the wax.
I have refused to use wax on a car since the 1980's, since I learned that it does more damage by trapping dirt that leaves fine scratches in the paint when you go to remove the wax. Maybe it's different now, but there are many more better products than wax now, too. Actual wax seems to be a lot more trouble than it's worth. Unless you're trying to fill fine scratches...left by previously using wax.
Side by side comparisons by a real person with no vested interest:
