Over the years any time I use 87 my vehicles don't like it. Sure they will run but I notice a little lower mpg and the engine will ping when the weather warms up. Just by switching to 89 fixes the issue. Personally I will never run 87.
Waste of money in the Hybrid. Probably more important to always use TopTier gas, though. Available in all grades.

I tried 93 in my EB. Didn't notice any difference other than the cost. IMO, not worth the extra dollar per gallon. Just alternating name brands should be plenty to keep the engine clean.

I think anything you notice will be confirmation bias. You are looking for a "change" and your brain will find one to satisfy the desire.
100%. Anything else anyone says is wishful thinking.

Ethanol free gas ,will have a blue handle at the pumps . Go to website Puregas.com to find it near you.
Not every station has it. The closest one to me is 25 miles. Drive past it 3 or 4 times a week. It is the only fuel I use in my mower , pressure washer, string trimmer. All run better.

Don't "recommend" "90RV".

WTF is that? Been to all 50 states and never seen it so that must be only because I didn't stop for gas in Indiana.
it is all over the country. Go to Puregas.com

Other than octane-quality of fuel affects my mileage and performance more. Top tier gas is worth the few extra pennies per gallon. Shell and Marathon around here are the only 2 brands I trust. BP is no longer top tier. Circle k or Sam's or Pilot generic crap gas will never go in anything I own-not even the push mower if I'm mad at it..lol.

I used 87 in my Hybrid but use 91 in the EB. Noticeable difference in the EB, no real change in the Hybrid to justify it. I fill up with ethanol free once a quarter as well. For me, it not about the MPG or the cost, it's about my short trip driving in Montana and only having to fill up once a month on average.

I have been using regular has in my awd Mav since I got it. I was wondering if I filled an empty tank with premium if I would notice any difference. Or would it take a few tankfulls. Thanks
It might take up to 3 or 4 tanks for the timing to fully adjust. At least that was with older ECO-boost engines. I do not know if more modern engines can adjust faster. My completely unscientific and biased opinion is that I felt a difference on the second full tank.

The only real difference that I noticed is that the truck was more responsive, especially noticeable starting out from a stop. Think of difference in throttle response from ECO mode to sport mode, just not as extreme. I did get a few MPG better, but only 1 or 2.

Again, I know that this is an unscientific and biased opinion. There will be nothing earth shattering with the switch to higher Octane, but there is a slight increase in performance that might be worth it for some people who want it. As someone who carpools and usually fills up once every two weeks, I can afford the splurge.

We just call that "real gas" and it's readily available here. Some stations sell only "real gas" - all grades. Costs more, but I use it in my mowers, etc., and in the truck in the coldest part of winter.

Nevah heard it called puregas or 90RV. And no blue gas-pump handles around here.

I think anything you notice will be confirmation bias. You are looking for a "change" and your brain will find one to satisfy the desire.

Part of the reason I don't think you will see an actual change is that the truck is actively tuning itself constantly. It will adapt to the ignition profile/fuel mix/timing blah blah blah of the fuel and compensate so that it seems to us dumb humans like it is performing like it always has been. To prevent knocking, etc.... Will it need to "work less" with higher octane fuel? Maybe? But I don't think us humans would detect it without data loggers and spreadsheets and graphs of real-time data.
I did put premium in my 2011 3.5 F150 during the pandemic when it was cheaper. Think I got 1 or 2 mpg better. Was not worth the extra 50 cent per gallon

Never herd of it either. Maybe it's e15. More ethanol higher octane but less mpg.

Ditto to tddawson's experience... noticed immediate performance improvement when switching to premium fuel on 2nd tank.

Curious why you say 87 is junk? That's all I have used for the past year truck runs great and averaging 33 mpg. When my wife drives 29 mpg.
It's all I have ever used and I run an average of 33.2 mpg - on the road I hit 36 - sometimes 38 mpg and NOBODY drives my truck but me .
