Yeah I looked at a few some years back and they’re great little trucks with crazy mpg but getting pretty old and absolutely no power. I wanted to run one on wvo. During that same period there were a few other smaller trucks with 4 cylinder diesels. International Harvester and Ford too.

Just get a clean old ranger with a junk motor for about $1000 and put that super expensive cummins 4cyl swap in it. There are kits, and its been done plenty.

I’ve seen some pretty nice swaps with small tractor motors. With the right gears they even get good mpg. My state has no inspections so it’s always a possibility.

Yeah you can do the 4BT swap or cummins makes a different 2.8 4cy designed for cars and even has some emissions testing for various compliances. Its 160hp/300tq $11k with almost everything needed to swap into about anything. In a lightweight vehicle you should see similar MPG as our 2.0 Mavericks.

If you clean up the interior and update everything else on a truck you will have a pretty nice diesel for under the price of a new hybrid XL.
