Ford Maverick Volkswagen Amarok 1767487565953-mr

That’s the Ranger I liked. Had a 84 4x4 7 foot bed. Gave it to a friend in 2005, very rusty. My favorite truck.
A 1994 was my 2nd Ranger... (photo in 2006).

Ford Maverick Volkswagen Amarok DSCN0413

Bought it, "USED" in 2001 (was 7 years old) and then gave it to my brother in 2012 (was 18 years old).
He drove it for four more years...

My brother owned both at the same time. They were so similar he had no preference.

His Ranger was that same color.

I miss the aluminum wheels of that era.
IMHO those looked way better than any of today’s Maverick wheels.
Nice fat comfy tires, not these low profile on big wheels rigs of today.

The offset on those older wheels made them look better. I always liked deep dish wheels.

Ford could build the VW Amarok in Wayne, Michigan on the Ranger Assembly line and the Chicken Tax could be avoided. Nissan and Toyota build/built trucks in the U.S. to avoid the Chicken Tax. For reasons decided by Ford and/or VW, they didn't pursue that. Probably a good idea, since Ranger sales are significantly lower than Maverick. A U.S. sold VW Amarok would erode Ranger sales even further. Likely never going to happen.

Exactly! Ford knows how to build trucks, VW sedan cars
