When pushing to voice control button on the wheel and initiating a command I get a message to the effect voice control is not set up and I have to (when safe) make a change in assistance settings. Makes no difference if I'm driving , stopped or in park. I tried to attach a recording while using maps and heading for home, but it is too large to post. Transcribed here "For help with that first you will have to allow personnel results in this car. When it's safe you can go ahead and make the change in assistance settings ." Anyone else have this issue? What did you do? So far Ford has no clue and have reprogrammed and upgraded the head unit.

Thanks,

Can you confirm that you do not have an iPhone or Android phone plugged in to the forward USB ports and running CarPlay or Android Auto?

I see on your profile it says you have a Lariat Lux, as do I, and the button talks to Sync when you aren't running CarPlay or AA. But Sync3 can't do much at all, compared to what Siri or Google Assistant can do when you hit that button.

Look at your phone. My Samsung phone gave me this running in Bluetooth & I had to approve use. - it used the Samsung voice system to work, pretty sure this is the 1st time I've used Bixby.

Using android phone with wireless dongle running android auto. This all has worked for over a year with no problem. Last 3 weeks have been a no go. Can't blame on recall as it wasn't working before that was done.

You can try unplugging your wireless AA dongle and plugging in your phone directly. That would be a useful troubleshooting step. If it doesn't work then I agree with Tiger Dude, it would very likely be a configuration on your phone.

You can try updating the sync3 software also, in fact, I just noticed last week there was a new build. Wifi update never works for me, so download it from Ford and put it on a USB drive. If you're not sure how to do that, go here: https://www.ford.com/support/sync-maps-updates/

Check your phone, your settings might have changed on you.
