I eventually was able to update to 3.4.32188 via USB with assistance on the phone. Turned out a critical step for Apple users was left out. All is showing the update is now current but I have the same experience regarding uploading the log file to Ford. Same error message regarding the problem with the log file, same “Software Updates Disabled” on website vehicle dashboard.
I triple checked that the “ Automatic Updates” is enabled and connected to wifi.
Chat on three occasions was no help last week. All said Sync is going through updating and unavailable. None would tell me a ETA for completion.
Nothing is wrong with my Sync3 unit but there is obviously a snafu at Ford. One of many 🤨
After about 4 months they got around to fixing the error message and the wifi disabled message. My sync was upto date the entire time.

Ford have been having issues properly analysing the logs from successful updates for at least 11 years now. I had these same problems with my 2013 updates. There is something seriously wrong with the analyser app at the Ford end, not yours. If you updated and uploaded the logfile, it will eventually be marked as done when a human eventually checks the log to work around the software issue. I know my last update suddenly looks complete a month after it was installed. If you look at the logfile its pretty easy to parse and Ford needs to fix or replace their really broken log analyser system that is causing lots of owners to freak out.

I'll ask, but realize no one here likely has the answer; If Ford communicates with our vehicles, why does the update log have to be manually uploaded to their server? Wouldn't it be available during on of those communication events?

Sounds like they're collecting information on alot of other stuff going on in our vehicles.

I just had mine updated, but my Ford Pass still shows I have the old version. We'll see how long it takes to have that corrected. 🤔

And on a side note, I received the latest map update, too. (NA 2 22) My understanding is this is updated for the period "2nd quarter 2022 to 2nd quarter 2023" .

I entered my sisters address in "The Villages FL." and it still doesn't show up. She's in a newer development, but it's a couple of years old now. She was in the house in 2022.

Google maps has it updated. I'm glad I don't have to rely on the Sync 3 navigation system.

Just FYI. After updating with the usb you no longer need to copy a file and reinsert the usb. In fact the update no longer creates a confirmation upload file. It is ridiculus that Ford hasn't updated their instructions yet.

Good to know, Norm. I didn't update it myself, but thought it was still that old way, where it had to be done manually.

I tried three times with USB and once on wifi. No luck. Screw it. FM still works, thumb drive music still works, Nav still works (half assed). I've driven cars with tube type radios. No updates needed. 2000 Honda Civic radio still works. RAV4 and Slingshot both work fine.
If it ain't broke . . . . .
