Usb splitter

I was looking to connect two phones or one phone + cd player to usb port . ordered from Amazon usb 2.o male to 2 dual hub female hub power cord extension adaptor cable . it wouldn't work at all . just thought I would pass this information on . it's being returned .

Most of those cables only split the power while only one leg actually can carry data.
