USB flash drive - sorting files

As partially mentioned here, the audio system indexes the file by reading the tag information. It then plays them in alphabetical order by song name. It doesn't sort by file name, so if you want them in a particular order you would have to re-tag all of them. I'm not in my truck now, but I believe you can also select by genre or artist in addition to playing all of them. I have a couple thousand on my USB drive and after a 2 hour drive playing in alpha order one of my friends said that was the most eclectic mix he had ever heard. I then explained we were still just in the A's...

I've known people that just put their whole library on "shuffle," which would have a similar outcome - but there is no way I could ever do that. The potential sonic whiplash that would happen would just be too much.

I did an Aurora Design digital upgrade on my factory 67 Shelby radio. It can be set up to play albums or shuffle. I leave it on shuffle. If you want to skip a song you just give the tuning knob a quick twist. Sound quality is very good.
On my 23 XLT Mav it indexes everything in alphabetical order but if I select Artist or Album all tracks on album will be in correct order.

I'm not in the truck, but you can list songs by albums. You have to pull up the usb as a source, and the initial sort will list all songs. Somewhere on the right is an "album" label with a return arrow. Hit that and the album list will come up. Hit the album you want and all those songs will come up in the order on the album.
